New Skills include: Language Arts:

We are working on Transportation and learning about how we can get places and different forms of transportation. Handwriting: This week we will do letter Dd keyword: dinosaur Remember to begin letters at the top when forming for handwriting purposes. We remember the lower case d by stating the drum then the stick and form the drum first as we do our handwriting of the lower-case letter d.

Writer’s Workshop: We are adding to our books that we made last week, but this week since we have been labeling items in our classroom we will be adding labels to our own books we have made. Home work this week includes labeling simple items in your child’s bedroom. Provide your child with small pieces of paper and crayons and tape so that he or she can make labels for common objects like (bed, dresser, wall, window, etc..) seeing these words helps students awareness with reading concepts like beginning sounds and concepts of print. • Math We are continuing to identify copy and create AB patterns in class. We are using several hands on manipulatives to make AB patterns and recording our work.

New October Homework is coming home today!!

- Reminders ! You will receive your Parent Teacher Conference Time this week—Please respond to the form sent home immediately to let me know if this time will work for you. Return it to school the next day with your child. This Thursday the 8th is Chick-Fil-A Family Night at the Avon Restaurant- come join the BPE family! Friday the 16th- BPE has what they call the BIG Event- it is a day that we celebrate at the end of each grading period our successes!Mrs. Hay’s class will do a special activity in the afternoon for about 45 min for this BIG • EVENT! Good Behavior over the course of the next few weeks is a MUST in order to have the privilege to attend. P.T.O. will host a Pumpkin Patch on Sat the 17th here at BPE mark your calendars! BPE Book Fair will be open on the 17th during the Pumpkin Patch as well as during Parent Teacher conferences for parents- for students it will be open the week of the 26th-30th –Our Library Day is on Thursday the 29th- if you would like your child to purchase an item from the BOOK FAIR most items cost atleast $5.00 –money needs to be clearly marked with your child’s name and BOOK FAIR and sent to school with your child. Report Cards will be distributed at parent teacher conferences either before or after Fall Break depending on when your conference is scheduled

for.

October 21st -22nd and 23rd- No School! Fall Break

During the month of October we do not celebrate Halloween at BPE, however in Kindergarten we do activities based around the theme Spiders and Insects—on Friday October the 30th Mrs. Hay’s Kindergarten will have a Miss Spider’s Tea Party! You will be hearing more about this as the month goes on- I will need both volunteers on this day as well as donations for this event- I will send request home soon as well as volunteer sheets for sign up!
