A Peek at the Week
Highlights!
-
New Skills include: Language Arts: This week we will be continuing to learn about Transportation and we have wrapped up our 1st 9 week grading period!! WOW that has gone fast! Handwriting:
This week we will do letter Nn keyword: Nickel Remember to begin letters at the top when forming for handwriting purposes. As I checked proper name writing this pasted week one on one- there are several students who are still in need of more practice with correct formation on the letters in their first name. We work very hard to make sure that students are writing their letters properly to ensure for a smooth transition into 1st grade. I will be sending more practice sheets for name tickets with the starting “dots” included on them so that your child can continue to practice if needed. This will be shared at your child’s conference.
Writer’s Workshop: We are working on being great illustrators which can become great authors. We learn that both “Good Readers and Writers” match the pictures with the text. We are in the beginning stages of writing and learning to use what we call a “mini office” to help us write. This is a laminated folder which is a reference for the alphabet, sounds, and words. We can use this mini office as we learn to sound out words when writing. Your child is working on a book about a place that he or she went… Ask them what it is. • Math Patterns.. Patterns.. they are everywhere! In Kindergarten we love them. AB patterns are what we have mastered so far. Can your child tell you the rule for an AB pattern?

With cool weather already here, it is hard to tell what the weather will be like when we go out for recess. Be sure your child has a jacket and or sweatshirt other than the one they are wearing all day for outdoor weather. If it is cool enough to need a jacket and children are not dressed appropriatelythey will be sent to a partner kdg. classroom during recess and stay inside. Please be aware of what your child is wearing out the door. Also, it is time to switch out our “spare clothes” that were sent at the beginning of the year for long pants and long sleeve shirts. Please send a new zip lock bag with warmer spare clothes to leave at school in case of accidents. When your child brings the new bag they can bring home the old one. Thank you!
