Purpose & Objectives Classroom management in K-12 classrooms with four walls is challenging enough but managing an online K-12 classroom can be terrifying! Unique challenges of distance learning require new strategies and practices for K-12 teachers. Most of what are considered best practices for distance learning are based upon adult learning theory and autonomous, selfdirected, mature learners. Few K-12 learners fit that description and yet distance learning in K-12 continues to grow at a rapid rate. Many K-12 teachers are provided professional development on technology, given access to the Internet and a course site then set adrift in cyberspace to manage the challenges of cultural diversity, conflict resolution, student engagement and interactive learning with little understanding of the strategies to achieve an effective and enjoyable learning experience......
