Responsibilities Technical Support Manage all projects in the organization of system administration, software development and network security and provide direct technical support. 1. Software Development and Documentation
Page 3 of 5 a. Collaborate with internal staff, clients to ensure that the current suite of In-Room Connection programs is meeting the needs of organization and technical support staff. The In-Room Connection programs include:
User registration
Administrative tools for managing connections
Helpdesk
b. Ensure that design documents are drafted for all new software applications and oversee documentation of code consistently throughout the development process. c. Ensure prompt and professional responses of the servers to bug reports. 2. Provide Business server-based Services and Support a. Oversee the support of Business server servers providing In-Room connection services for over 150 employees' residents. b. Oversee the development, support, and maintenance of windows file and print servers for Win XP, with a custom web based administration interface using Remote access c. Assist the Lead System Administrator and the System Administrator team in maintaining DNS, NFS, DHCP, mail, web, and FTP services for all employees' and staff. d. Ensure management and administration of mission-critical SQL databases which contain confidential information, IP address allocation tables, Ethernet card addresses and other relevant data. e. Ensure secure operation of all servers and services though the use of security and encryption tools such as SSL, and through extensive staff and documentation. f.
Work closely with staff on system maintenance and development.
3. Network Security and Development a. Work with Network technical staff to enforce Appropriate Use Policies. b. Collaborate with campus and departmental staff in developing and enforcing new policies for use of the network. c. Configure and maintain network equipment for use in Residential Comp ting's network. d. Maintain network management software. This involves responding to bug reports and rapidly developing fixes or workarounds. e. Investigate network upgrade options. f.
Work with technical staff to develop and maintain tools for compiling network usage statistics.
g. Oversee the development and maintenance of tools for monitoring network abuse by and against employees' in the residence halls. Professional Development
