SUD and Mental Health – All together MTS-07 Practicum/Field Work The practicum course, (MTS-07) provides a clinical supervised training experience for advanced MTS students in the diverse duties of an Alcohol and Drug Counselor. The course provides opportunities to develop competencies in applied practice within an online classroom and an on-site agency treatment program setting. Attention is paid to the development of the student’s clinical, consultation, testing, and outreach skills in addition to a focus on individual and groups counselor competencies. Supervisors and instructor support students in developing professional values, interests, abilities and practical skills. Students must gain a minimum of 255 hours of supervised work experience in the field and complete all online learning assignments. Student and instructor meet on zoom (a virtual online conferencing system) with an agenda of instruction from teacher and TAP 21 testing and review of competency’s. Students must develop and complete a goal related to improving skills in the application to practice.
