Mizzou Rallies for Climate Change Leadership NOW! WHO: Supporters of climate action and a clean energy future for Mizzou WHAT: A rally to take a stand for clean energy and let UM System President Gary Forsee know that his views do not represent Mizzou’s student body and the community at large WHERE: Outside University Hall (Off of Stadium Blvd., between Walton Stadium and A.L. Gustin Golf Course) WHEN: THURSDAY, Dec. 3 @ 1 p.m. WHY: President Forsee is publicly opposing the clean energy bill - the last chance for the environmental community to put a concrete limit on greenhouse gas emissions with any kind of meaningful teeth. This isn’t just about Mizzou’s physical plant—it’s about the billions of tons of CO2 being emitted by manufacturers and utility companies around the country. By stating publicly that he is against this legislation, President Forsee is putting short-sighted, and quite frankly wrong, concerns ahead of taking on energy policy, he is signaling to the rest of the academic community that he does not take climate change seriously.
We need him to take this issue seriously. Take a stand. Make your voice heard. Join us Thursday.
