Understanding of Prime, Composite, Odd, Even, Abundant, and Deficient Numbers Prime number- a number that only has factors of one and itself ( No prime number is divisible by any other number other than itself. Ex. Of some prime numbers: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17 Composite number- a number that has more than just 1 and itself as its factors. (Also all composite numbers are divisible by at least two prime numbers) Odd number- A number that is not divisible by 2. (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, etc. are all examples of odd numbers) Even number- a number that is divisible by 2. (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, etc. are all examples of even numbers) Abundant number- A number that if you add up all its factors (not including 1 and the number)
it is greater than the number itself. Ex. Factors of 20= 2+4+5+10= 21 which is greater that the number therefore 20= Abundant Deficient number- a number that if you add up all the factors of the number (not including 1 and the number) it is less than the number itself. (Every prime number is deficient)Ex. Factors of 21= 3, 7= 10= less than the number=Deficient
