1.0 INTRODUCTION We as adults have a variety of reasons to further their studies in various levels whether diploma or degree in higher learning centers. Most of us have the goal of achieving certain objectives i.e. obtaining diploma or degree and so on. However, there are also those who continue to study because of the activities and programs that have been offered besides getting a degree. There are also adult learners who pursue education with science-oriented goals. They want to further their studies because they want to explore the field of knowledge that they are interested in for their personal satisfaction. However, this category is very small. Most of today's students have a strong reason to gain a first degree because they will then be able to improve themselves to better positions, gain promotions, increase income or salary, gain a higher social status and have self-esteem. In addition to the goal of obtaining a degree that encourages us to enroll in higher learning centers as distance education students, extensive experience in their respective fields can help highlight identity as mature and responsible adults. Amongst us may be married, have children, hold a position, serve as professionals in the private sector or private or public organization, and undertake voluntary work in their respective societies. So this student attended college with free feeling and high confidence to learn. Adult students do not actually enter the classroom as students with empty hands. It's just a problem for them is that time may not allow them to fully embark on teaching and learning activities. This factor requires us to more accurately divide the time between duties, responsibilities and learning. But life experience as a mature person can help us manage time more wisely and overcome the problems and learning obstacles.

2.0 REASONS IN DECIDING TO FURTHER STUDY The first reasons why we choose to study part time or distance as we all have a career. These are the advantages that part-time students will get. Work is uninterrupted and at the same time can extend education to a higher level. So when it comes to learning later, not only is there a degree but a long working experience. It only requires a very high commitment to make it successful. Majority of us who continue to engage in part-time studying is to improve the level of professionalism especially in the areas we are involved in where most of us are serving the PDRM. As such, by pursuing a postgraduate degree, the grade in the post also changes and the salary increase will also be realized. This is closely related to extrinsic motivation that affects individuals to seek to gain social status for a better standard of living. The second reasons, when participating in the program as a part-time or long-distance student of course we will all be attending classes and here we are going to meet various groups either in the same professional or professional fields in other areas. Perhaps there is a colleague's contact encountered several times a month as a successful business person. At the same time we can be friends, learn and maybe look for good opportunities for the future. It also helps to improve social skills better and our social networks also grow. Since the class is only held on weekends, the help of lecturers and colleagues supports much part-time learning. We communicate with each other daily through technological conveniences like ‘ WhatSapp’ and email to share information and ideas in completing assignments and discussing for exams. The encouragement, aid and moral support given by classmates also reinforce the spirit especially for friends who have problems in their learning process. The third reasons, as we know this part-time learning program demands a very high commitment. With the burden of work at work, we need to take time to class and study. But this does not need to be feared as it instantly educates us to be a highly disciplined and well-

organized person. When part-time studying, we are encouraged to become self-sustaining students. We hope can learn freely or study in groups. As a self-taught student, this can make the learning experience is more meaningful and at the same time, undergoing daily routine as usual. Regardless of whether studying while working or not, we now have more responsibility for the study program that we are currently following. The final reason is getting more flexible and understandable lecturer, this is also one of the advantages that part-time or distance students will get. The lecturers who teach will better understand the students who besides learning have to face various work assignments. So they will be more tolerant and give a little bit more work than part-time students. It does not mean they are not serious but specific details are given to students studying on a part-time basis. When working and at the same time being part-time students certainly do not have much time to do leisure activities. With this flexibility while pursuing part-time studies, the opportunity to relax or to do leisure activities is more meaningful to us all. Occasionally being free from work assignments and lessons will definitely boost the spirits more intensely. 3.0 DIVIDING BETWEEN STUDYING AND WORK DUTY STRATEGIES Part time studying experience can be a happy moment and also an unpleasant event. If you feel uncomfortable, a stressful situation may develop. Therefore, it is important to be aware of this situation and learn how to manage it. Besides preparing for stress management, other strategies such as setting goals, motivation strategies for successful learning and time management strategies should be taken into serious consideration in order to have a pleasant learning process.

3.1 Stress Management Among the common causes of stress that may be faced as part-time students are academic performance, lifestyle changes, financial, health, social relationships, family and friends. As part-time students, it is necessary to master some strategies in a more realistic and reasonable way to overcome any stressful situation. Start off with an organized self-management where we should control how to use time and energy to manage stress more effectively. For example, if working full-time, it may be necessary to study at night when everyone is asleep or get up early and start the day between one or two hours early. Have enough rest, move your mind from pressure and stack to positive breathing and thinking. Dreaming also gives rest, together with meditation, progressive breaks, exercise, listening to soothing music as well connect with friends and loved ones. There is also stress caused by anxiety. As a part-time student, we may be worried about being occupied with exams or submits assignments, most anxiety come from fear maybe we will fail or not perform well. The most important thing we can do to control the level your anxiety is to learn and recognize materials well so we can keep in mind even when it comes to under pressure. Additionally, other ways to control anxiety are setting goals, motivate oneself, practice good time management and avoid procrastinating. Studying part time while working can bring a variety of situations where you will not be able to fully control. To be a successful student, we need to collaborate with others. Remember, we cannot do it alone. Friends and tutors play an important role and we will get benefit by joining learning groups and always in contact with tutors.

3.2 Goal Settings Goal is something that we want to achieve by performing a specific action. Hence, goals are important for part-time students like us as they help motivate themselves to do work, attend classes and learn to take the exam. This will increase the chances of success. However, most people do not achieve their goals because they failed to set an effective goal or they did not take action to achieve their goals. They're drifting aimlessly. To set realistic goals, we must assess the opportunity to achieve the intended goal. Make sure we have the knowledge, skills, talent or resources needed to achieve the targeted goal. Specific goals are necessary to measure progress and ensure its achievement. More specifically our goals, the more we will be motivated to achieve. The goal can be measured if we can determine whether we can achieve it or not. If the goal is not tied to time, we will delay the action to achieve it. End date is also important in encouraging you to achieve our goals. When working toward something, it helps to have a positive attitude. Goals should be written and placed in the places we always look at. Write ideas clearly to encourage our actions. Therefore, it is important to balance academic and personal goals. Academic goals are related to course work. However, personal goals are also important. If we focus too much on personal goals, we find that we have only a small amount of time to learn. Balancing academic and personal goals requires planning and flexibility. 3.3 Motivation Strategy for Learning Success Motivation is something that energizes, directs and maintains the behavior of certain goals. Set challenging but realistic learning goals before commencing tasks, define the facts, concepts or ideas you want to learn. Set yourself to realistic and achievable goals to be more motivated to achieve them.

Divide the big task into small sections, Make the task easier to manage by dividing it into smaller sections and easy to manage so as not to worry or fear. Maintain positive attitude, keeping positive attitude is very important. Think of hardships as a challenge. If something has to be learned looks like a threat, consider it as an opportunity to do something new. Use active learning strategies instead of passive learning. Take the initiative to find resources by going to the library, browsing the web, talking to tutors and meeting or discussing online with a colleague. Do not be discouraged by the mistakes you have made during study. Instead, get someone or a new resource to help learning. Find help from tutor, friend or anyone who can help. For your motivation, describe yourself during study. Get feedback from tutors about tests and assignments. Discuss the grade with related parties. 3.4 Time Management Time management is a way of organizing or scheduling time. The key to successful time management is to provide sufficient time to complete certain work while still have time to complete other responsibilities. Therefore, learning good time management techniques can motivate us to achieve our goals. All successful time management starts with planning. When planning activities with the objective of achieving the goals, we are responsible for ourselves and our choices. In other words, we are now in control of how we manage our time. Time management is the way we organize or schedule our time. Once we know the amount of time allocation we have to learn, we need to learn how to set priorities so that it is easy for us to control the situation and achieve our goals. Our priorities should also reflect our relationship with other people. If married and have children, then preferences may include spouses and children. If you are single and live with a friend, maybe put a friend on top of the list. 8|Page

Having time management skills will help us to prepare, not just for the moment but also for the future. It can also help us to develop good habits and skills. we can become successful managers and students if we are ready to learn and use effective time management tools and techniques. 4.0 MOTIVATION ASPECT TO FURTHER STUDIES Motivation is a process for promoting behavior in order to achieve certain information. The concept of motivation is difficult to understand because its effect cannot be known directly. . Motivation means giving goal, goal raising or anything that raises impetus or impetus. In other words, motivation is a factor that encourages one to act in a particular way and approach. Thus it can be said that motivation is basically a physical and mental state that encourages motivation to engage in activities or actions and to give strength that leads to self-achievement, satisfaction or lessening imbalance in every task performed. Education and learning processes are closely related to motivation. According to Abdul Rahman (1997), motivation is necessary in pursuing knowledge or learning process. A similar opinion was voiced by Wladkowski (1993) who has studied the role of motivation in helping adults learn more effectively. The two main components of motivation are motivation and action. The job market is now more dynamic due to the rapid changes in the use of technology and the increasingly diversified knowledge. Various issues arise when there is competition in career choices and criteria required by employers. Therefore, education is seen as the most important aspect in determining career direction and as a solution to the current life scenario. By continuing with our studies, we can determine the level of profession or improve our existing careers. The majority of our group members are serving in the PDRM. Therefore, the criterion of continuing to higher education becomes very relevant for the reason that at least we are able to attain the change in the rank of the higher-order position as well as gain the 9|Page

incremental pay raise while improving our standard of living and our families. This is closely related to extrinsic motivation that affects individuals to strive for social status for a better standard of living (Ramlah and Mahani, 2002). 5.0 CONCLUSION With the existence of part-time learning program it provides opportunities for those who have worked to improve their qualifications, skills and knowledge by taking steps to follow such programs that have been created. This requirement is to ensure the development of healthy knowledge for the rapid economic, social and political growth ((Mohd Noor Saleh, 1994) Therefore, part-time study is very important as this program will increase the knowledgeable society, in line with public sector development and the private sector where they have a bigger and more complex responsibilities, therefore the sector requires those who are caliber, dedicated and knowledgeable to ensure that the quality of work and services continues to increase to the optimum effectiveness of the education which continues in human life.
