About This Document Outline This document is intended to help you diagnose electrical malfunctions. This document is divided into the following parts: 1
Foreword - contains the following contents: about this document, electrical protection, abbreviation, wire color code, wire harness abbreviation, wire harness configuration code chart, power supply line function, connector list, malfunction diagnosis and how to use the wiring diagram.

Locator of connector and ground point - shows the location of each connector on the vehicle through the threedimensional space diagram. In addition, many connectors will be shown in an illustration for convenience.

Fuse description - contains detailed description for location, rated current and the protection circuit.

Power distribution circuit - contains engine bay power distribution and passenger compartment power distribution, it is intended to understand the condition of power distribution.

Service circuit - contains the repair electrical wiring diagram, detailed connector list instruction and connector end view of the sections for each system on the vehicle.
Note: Ensure that the relative mechanical function operates normally before performing the electrical test.
Reference Reference to the LH or RH side given in this document is viewed from the rear of the vehicle. The operation instructions in this document do not contain the test reference after the vehicle is repaired. After all the operations finished, it is necessary to perform the inspection test. It is especially important while performing the operation related to the safety parts. Caution: Please refer to the ELECTRICAL PROTECTION before performing the operation related to the electrical equipment.
Battery Voltage Open Circuit Voltage Test Before starting the electrical malfunction diagnosis, check if the battery is available with the open circuit voltage test. 1
Turn off all the electrical equipment on the vehicle.

Adjust the digital multimeter to the appropriate scale to read the DC voltage.

Try to contact the two poles of the battery with the probe to ensure the two poles are connected correctly, and record the voltage displayed.
When the displayed voltage is 12.3 V or more, it means that the battery is available, or the battery needs to be charged. Caution: If the vehicle has been used within 8 hours before testing, the static on the surface of the battery must be removed by turning on the headlight for about 30 seconds. Wait for 60 seconds before checking the open circuit voltage. The battery voltage can be used as a known reference value to determine whether the voltage in the circuit is enough high to operate each component normally. This reference value can only be used as a reference, because many circuits can operate in a large range of voltage. In addition, the change of the reading caused by the voltage drop and the voltage fluctuation caused by the length of the wire should be taken into consideration, when the voltage passing through certain components.

Foreword Electrical Protection Outline The following instructions are intended to ensure the personal safety of the operators when installing the electrical equipment and electronic components.
Equipment Ensure that the relative test equipment operates normally, and the wire harnesses and the connectors are well connected before performing a vehicle test procedure. Pay more attention to the conditions of the wires and the connectors used to operate the equipment. Caution: Before starting any work on ignition system, make sure the high voltage terminals, adapters and diagnostic equipment for testing have been insulated or shielded absolutely to minimize the risk of electric shock, in order to prevent personal accident. The medicinal pacemaker carrier should be away from the ignition circuit and the diagnostic equipment.
Polarity Never connect the two poles of the battery reversely. Ensure that both poles are connected correctly when connecting them to the test equipment.
High-voltage Circuit Please use the insulated pliers to disconnect the live circuit, to prohibit the bare conductor contacting other components, especially various ECUs. Pay attention to the ignition coil terminal as it may produce high voltage pulse when the engine is running.
Connector and Wire Harness It is difficult to install the electronic parts and the connectors in the engine bay. Therefore, care should be taken: ensure that the electronic parts and the connectors are dry without any oil before disconnecting and connecting the test equipment. Never use tools or drag the wire harness to disconnect the connector forcibly. Before disconnecting, be sure to release the connector locking tabs and reconnect them in the correct direction. Be sure to replace any protective cover and insulating material immediately, once they are damaged. Refer to the service guide of the repair manual before replacing the defective parts. Be sure to turn the ignition switch off, disconnect the battery (refer to Battery Disconnection). To avoid unnecessary terminal damage, support any wire harness disconnected. When replacing the parts, keep the oily hands away from the electronic connection area, and ensure that the connector locking tabs are engaged completely.
Battery Disconnection Turn all the electrical equipment off before disconnecting the battery. Some data (e.g. time of the clock) will be lost when the battery is disconnected. Caution: To prevent damage the electrical equipment, always disconnect the battery when repairing the electrical system on the vehicle. When the battery is disconnected, the ground terminal must be disconnected first, and connected last. Be sure to connect the wire harness of the battery correctly, locate it in place and keep it away from any potential hazard area all the time.
Battery Charging Ensure good ventilation of the battery top when charging the battery outside the vehicle. After charging or discharging the battery for approximately 15 minutes, the battery will release the hydrogen. The gas is combustible.

Foreword Always keep the charging area of the battery in good ventilation, and prevent the creation of flame and spark.
Rules Turn off the ignition system before connecting or disconnecting any parts in the system, or the electrical components may be damaged by the electromagnetic excitation produced due to disconnection of the live circuit. Ensure your hands and the working surfaces have no oil or metal particles, etc. For example, a short connection or high resistance may be caused by the oil. When handling the printed circuit board, pay attention to the electronic components sensitive to the body static. DO NOT remove or install the connectors forcibly, especially the connectors in the board. The damaged connection will cause a short or open circuit. Perform the ground protection periodically before or during the test. For example, cigar lighter, doing so can release the static of the vehicle body, as the static may cause some electronic components damaged.

Foreword Power Supply Line Function Meaning of Power Supply Line Function Number According to the different states of the power supply on the vehicle, the power source can be coded as 15, 15A, 15C, 30, 31, 50, 58. There are: "15" stands for the battery power (B+) with the ignition switch in ON or ST - IGN 1 "15A" stands for the battery power (B+) with the ignition switch in ON - IGN 2 "15C" stands for the battery power (B+) with the ignition switch in ON or ACC - ACC "30" stands for connecting the battery power (B+) directly - BAT+ "31" stands for ground - GND "58" stands for the battery power (B+) with the headlight switch in 1 and 2 - ILL illumination circuit "50" stands for the battery power (B+) with the ignition switch in ST - 50

Foreword Connectors List Instruction Outline Connector information is attached behind the wiring diagram of each system in the form of standard table, and the connectors are instructed in detail. Connector information includes the following contents:?
• Connector No. (Pins, Color, Attribute): Connector No. - The number is distributed by the system, with a prefix as wire harness ID, such as BD which stands for body wire harness. Refer to the wire harness abbreviation list for wire harness ID. Pins - stands for the total number of the connector pins. Caution: Not all the holes have leads connected. Color - Stands for the color of the connector housing. Attribute - Stands for the attribute of the connector, includes: male connector, female connector and eye connector. The connectors are usually inserted into the elements directly, and they commonly have convex pins.
• Connector function description - Usually derives from the connected elements. • Connector location - Usually determines the location of the connector by referring to the connector locator. • Inline connector No. - Optional item, fits for the connectors inlined with this one. • Connector end view - Shows the outline of the connector with pin No. in it. Foreword Malfunction Diagnosis Outline When diagnosing the electrical malfunctions, observe the following steps: 1
Study the wiring diagram carefully to make sure that you are familiar with the wiring diagram related to the malfunctions.

Study the power distribution and the fuse, and check the relative circuits connected to the fuse or ground. Check if the circuits are operating normally.

Use the connector layout to confirm the connection point in the circuit (perhaps between the power supply and the ground point), and these places are damaged easily.

Check if the lead-out line information and the terminal signal information of the connector are correct.

Check the next connector in the circuit with the above method.

Using the above method, check until the malfunction is found and troubleshoot to make sure that the circuit operates normally.
Caution: DO NOT contact the face of the connector with probe, as it may damage the terminal and cause an incorrect inspection. In general, the inverse side of the terminal should be detected. Note: DO NOT damage the terminal or seal. Caution: DO NOT detect the insulation part of the wire. Otherwise, the small diameter wire will be disconnected, and cause the humidity to enter into the wire and corroded it.
