County’s Support for Ubiquitous Broadband:
•
The County is in strong support of ubiquitous broadband for unserved/underserved communities in Mendocino County. The County can help with the following: 1. Provide overall project coordination and public outreach. 2. Provide generic letter of support for all grant applicants. 3. Address right-of-way and permitting issues. 4. Provide GIS data and mapping needs (with minimal service fees from County General Services Agency).
•
However, the Count is NOT in a position where it can do the following: 1. Endorse one vendor/provider over another. 2. Provide matching funds. 3. Provide grant writing services. 4. Submit grant applications. 5. Take ownership of new broadband infrastructure. 6. Collaborate with ISPs. 7. Share County’s Public Safety Microwave System with non-public agencies.
