Here is a list of places where you can start looking for information. Underline the 3 that you think are best and add your own ideas to the list. Then write down at least two places where you would go. Newspapers: Free local papers sometimes have job adverts. Keep a close eye on the papers. Post office: Most post offices display job vacancies on a notice board. Shop Windows: The next time you are passing your local shops have a look at the windows, you may see the job you want! Family or friends: Ask your family and friends about their jobs. Get them to tell you the good and bad points about their jobs. If you like the sound of those jobs ask them to let you know if there are any vacancies in the places where they work. JobCentres, Careers Offices: Pay a visit to your local office: job vacancies are advertised in the reception area. Internet: More and more people are advertising job vacancies and finding suitable employment through the internet. Covering letters

You must always send a covering letter with your CV. Read the text and answer the question: What is a covering letter for?
Covering Letter Your CV and application form will probably be very similar to the other applicant’s so this is an opportunity to really sell yourself! So, follow the guidelines below: • Keep your letter to one A4 page • Put your address, telephone number(s) and e-mail details at the top right-hand corner and remember to include the date • Explain why you want the job and why you think you are suitable for it • Mention what you are currently doing and how this is important for the job you are applying for • Sign your name clearly Don’t forget to enclose your CV with the letter or to attach it if you are applying for the job by e-mail. http://www.careersserviceni.com/Cultures/en-GB/FindAJob/Advice/Covering+Letter.htm

Project: Business card
1.
You are preparing for a job interview, but you haven't got any business cards. Design a card for yourself and make 3-4 copies.
Be creative. Only your name and address is not enough: you have to sell yourself! Creating a logo makes it more interesting. Here are some samples:
If you are in a room which has internet access, use a search engine (google, yahoo…) to find examples.
