PLEASE CIRCULATE WIDELY Call for Applications Peruvian Researcher Resident Fellows Program in Democratic Governance Centre for Developing-Area Studies McGill University Montreal, Canada As a result of generous funding from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), we are pleased to announce the opening of a position of Resident Fellow in Democratic Governance for an established Peruvian researcher currently residing in Peru. The Resident Fellow at CDAS will be commissioned to write a comprehensive report that strives to integrate Peruvian priorities with CIDA policy prerogatives in order to help generate innovative evidence-based policies for strengthening democratic governance. The award will be for nine months, beginning May 1, 2009. For the first two months, the selected researcher will work with local CIDA officers to develop a general research plan. In July, the selected researcher will then begin a 6-month residency period at McGill University, where he/she will be expected to write the draft study, drawing on CDAS’ research strengths in the area of democratic governance, as well as resources available at CIDA’s Ottawa headquarters. Upon returning to Peru, the researcher will then have a month to finalize the report. The successful applicant should have an established research record with particular experience relating to the study of democratic governance. Oral and written English skills should be sufficient to allow the researcher to maximize his/her stay in Canada. Duration of Award: May 2009 – January 2010 The Award includes:
Monthly Stipend of $2250 plus living allowance while in Canada; Air travel to and from Canada, as well as a travel allowance for domestic travel in Canada and Peru; $5000 for research-related expenses; Funding for a Research Assistant in Canada and in Peru.
