BRHS Elects Executive Student Council Officers

By Mitchell Forbes

BRHS recently had their Executive Student Council elections. There were seven positions open for election. There was ASB Representative, Public Relations Representative, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, President, and Social Chair. The elections were a success. All of the positions had at least two canidates running, except for the position of President, only Chuckie Herman was running. Elections were held May 6 during lunch. Here are the results: President: Chuckie Herman Vice President: Joey Glasheen Secretary: Eniana Pellumbi Treasurer: Lauren Forbes Public Relations Representative: Audrey Leary ASB Representative: Elin McWilliams Social Chair: William “Bill” Kilbuck and Mike Young The elections were successful and all of the canidates had fun. Good job to all who ran!

12 Teachers Leaving BRHS

At the end of this year, 12 staff members will be leaving. Most of these staff members have been at BRHS for a while. Most of the teachers said they would miss positive things, but Mr. Bruce Wegner said that all he would miss was “the monthly paycheck”. But other teachers like Mr. Josephson said they would miss things like the “great staff, great bunch students, and school spirit.” And others seem even more connected to the school. When Ms. Aloysious asked what she would miss, she replied she would miss “everyone and everything.” The Beat wishes to say goodbye to all of the teachers who are leaving. You have made a big contribution to our school and we will miss you. The Beat [5]

COVER STORY

8th GRADERS MOVE ON TO HIGH SCHOOL It’s May--and there is less than a week of school left. And there are 89 8th graders who will be moving on to high school next year. For most of them, this is there second year of junior high--getting through the confusing first months of junior high and ending up here-just about to go on to high school. This year has seemed to fly by. It has been an exciting year, including the starting of this newspaper. In this past year, many things have happened. The 8th grade is a great class with a great student council. The students are involved in so many different activities, including sports, student council, band, and a number of other activities. Students have also worked on fundraising for numerous activities and organizations. But, the 8th graders still have a little bit of junior high left. They have to finish up their finals, which go until Wednesday. Then they have their last day of junior high classes on Thursday, and then they finish up their junior high career with the 8th Grade Promotion Dance, and then they have their last day of junior high. As the 8th graders get ready to move on and leave their junior high days behind them, it is clear that as the 8th grade class moves on to high school that they will be a successful class all if the way to graduation.

Last Day of School Activities

These activities will be taking place on the last day of school: Ping-Pong 3-on-3 Basketball Dodge ball Rockband and Wii Karaoke Jumprope and Hula-hoop Walking Flag Football Lap Game Thursday is the last day of classes and Friday is a fun day. In the morning, you will be cleaning out your lockers and going to an assembly. Then, in the afternoon, you will have a chance to go the activities listed above. There will also be a picnic lunch.

Riddles By Wyatt White

1. Tom and his younger sister were fighting. Their mother was tired of the fighting, and decided to punish them by making them stand on the same piece of newspaper in such a way that they couldn’t touch each other. How did she accomplish this? 2. Imagine you are in a room with 3 switches. In an adjacent room there are 3 bulbs (let’s say in lamps which are on a regular table), each switch belongs to one bulb. All are off at the moment. It is impossible to see from one room to another. No help from anybody else is allowed. How can you find out which switch belongs to which bulb, if you may enter the room with the bulbs only once? 3. Daniel, my son, is exactly one fifth of my age. In 21 years time, I will be exactly twice his age. My wife is exactly seven times older than my daughter, Jessica. In 8 years time, my wife will be three times older then Jessica. How old are Daniel and Jessica now? Answers on page 6
