Visualiser The lesson objective: To be able to identify the properties of 2D and 3D shapes Aim: To show the differences and understand the detail of the shapes in terms of number of sides, faces, edges and corners

How the Visualiser was used: A square was placed under the Visualiser, propped up and a cube was placed beside it and the arm of Visualiser was bent over and turned towards the shapes. The features of each shape were then discussed with the whole class, all of whom could clearly see any similarities and difference. The properties of each shape were established together as each child was focussing on the same image viewed from the same angle. The arm can be rotated and moved to access the shapes from a variety of perspectives.

The benefits of the Visualiser: • Clear illustration of the properties of 2D and 3D shapes • Made a small scale lesson, large scale • Enabled all children to share a similar view and therefore contribute to a whole class discussion
