Lesson Plan Template School: St James Primary School Address: Thursley Road, Elstead, Surrey, GU8 6DH Teacher: Mark Ward Curriculum Area / Area of Learning: Numeracy Year: Reception The lesson objective: To familiarise the children with different coins we use.

2x JPEG Images of visualiser being used in lesson:

How the visualiser was used? The visualise was easily set up and then plugged into the SMARTBOARD. The angled head allowed the camera to display a close up of a coin. Using the zoom lens and auto focus ( via the remote control on the SMARTBOARD!) the number on the coin could easily be shown. This helped the pupils to see and differentiate between the coins we use. It is always hard to show real coins due to their size so the visualise was a wonderful tool to display them. A close up shot of each coin was presented and described to the class. Our SMARTBOARD was connected to the visualiser at the same time, this enabled me to annotate the display and emphasise the numerical value of the coin. The relevant worksheet I had created was also displayed to model the working task of the day. The lesson was a success with some good results and I will be using it every day to show the activity for the day as well as sharing the children’s ideas and work during the plenary.

The benefits of the Visualiser to teaching & learning: • Close up display of the coins value • Easy to set up and use • All children easily involved in the input of the lesson • Large scale learning • Being able to annotate the picture via the SMARTBOARD
