Tonsure: their hair was cut like a crown (like Christ's crown) Girdle: they wore a simple belt to show that they still belong to the world.The cross is the symbol of being a monk. Habit: this is the simple robe worn by monks. It is made of leather. Sandals :they wore very simple shoes.
