Answer any TWO of the following (15 × 2 = 30) (a)

i. Metric thread, nominal diameter 20mm and pitch 3mm. [6] ii. Double-start thread of square type, nominal diameter 40mm, and pitch 3mm. [9]

(b) Sketch any Five types of keys, in two views, as fitted in position between a shaft and the mounting. Take the shaft diameter as 30mm and the hub diameter of the mounting as 60mm. [5 × 3=15] (c) Sketch any two views of a Cotter Joint with socket and spigot ends to connect two rods of 20mm diameter each. [15] (d) Universal coupling to connect two shafts of diameters 50mm.

2. Assemble all parts of the stuffing box for a vertical steam engine showin in figure 1 and draw (a) Half sectional front view with left hals in section. (b) Half sectional front view from the right. (c) Top view.
