MATERIALS 10(11-13-15-16-18) Balls BERROCO SMART MOHAIR (50 grs), #8827 Blue Opal Straight knitting needles, size 10 1/2 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE Crochet hook, size 4.50 mm (G) 1 St marker

GAUGE 16 sts = 4”; 20 rows = 4” in St st on size 10 1/2 needles TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

BACK With straight needles, cast on 65(73-81-89-97-105) sts. Work even in St st for 2 1/2”, end on WS. Dec Row (RS): K1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1 – 63(71-79-87-95-103) sts. Rep this dec every 1 1/2” twice more, then every 1” once – 57(65-73-81-89-97) sts. Work even until piece measures 8 1/2” from beg, end on WS. Inc Row (RS): K1, M1k, k to last st, M1k, k1 – 59(67-75-83-91-99) sts. Rep this inc every 1” 3 times more – 65(73-81-89-97-105) sts. Work even until piece measures 12 1/2” from beg, end on WS. Shape Armholes: Bind off 2(3-4-5-5-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 61(67-73-79-87-93) sts. Dec 1 st at each armhole edge every RS row 4(5-6-7-9-10) times – 53(57-61-65-69-73) sts. Work even until armholes measure 5(5-5 1/2-6-6 1/2-7)”, end on WS. Inc 1 st each side on next row, then every 1” twice more – 59(6367-71-75-79) sts. Work even until armholes measure 7 1/2(7 1/2-8-8 1/2-9-9 1/2)”, end on WS. Shape Shoulders: Bind off 2(4-4-4-6-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 3(3-4-5-5-6) sts at beg of the next 4 rows, end on WS – 43 sts. Back Neckband: Row 1 (RS): K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across. Row 2: P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until neckband measures 1”, end on WS. Bind off in ribbing.

LEFT FRONT Note: Shaping on front is worked in 3 different areas at the same time. Side and armhole shaping at beg of RS rows is worked the same as back. There is also shaping at front edge and center shaping worked before marker. You will need to keep track of all 3 dec points at the same time. Please read through this entire section before starting to knit and look at schematic to get an idea of where shaping is worked. With straight needles, cast on 46(54-62-70-78-86) sts. Knit 1 row, end on RS. Shape Front Edge: Next Row (WS): Cast on 3 sts, p to end – 49(57-65-73-81-89) sts. Continue to cast on 3 sts at beg of every WS row 5 times more, end on WS – 64(72-80-88-96-104) sts. Piece should measure approximately 2 1/2” from beg. Dec Row (RS): K1, SSK (first side dec), k41(49-57-65-73-81), k2 tog (first dart dec), place marker, k to end – 62(70-78-86-94-102) sts. Continue to cast on 3 sts at beg of every WS row 10 times more. AT THE SAME TIME, continue to work shaping at beg of RS rows same as back (this includes the armhole shaping). For center dart, continue to dec 1 st before marker every other RS row 12(8-5-2-0-0) times more, every RS row 5(13-20-27-3331) times, then EVERY row 0(0-0-0-0-6) times. From this point, dec 1 st before marker every RS row 17 times more. When all sts have been cast on at front edge, bind off 3 sts at front edge at beg of the next 6 WS rows, 2 sts at beg of the next 6 WS rows, then dec 1 st at beg of the next 8 WS rows. When all front and armhole shapings have been completed and armhole measures 7 1/2(7 1/2-8-8 1/2-9-9 1/2)”, end on WS. Continue to

work dart decs and AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 2(4-4-4-6-6) sts at armhole edge once, then 3(3-4-5-5-6) sts twice for shoulder. Bind off 10 sts of frontband.

RIGHT FRONT With straight needles, cast on 46(54-62-70-78-86) sts. Work 2 rows in St st, end on WS. Shape Front Edge: Next Row (RS): Cast on 3 sts, k to end – 49(57-65-73-81-89) sts. Continue to cast on 3 sts at beg of every RS row 5 times more, end on WS – 64(72-80-88-96-104) sts. Piece should measure approximately 2 1/2” from beg. Dec Row (RS): Cast on 3 sts, k15, place marker, SSK (first dart dec), k to last 3 sts, k2 tog (first side dec), k1 – 65(73-81-89-97-105) sts. Continue to cast on 3 sts at beg of every RS row 9 times more. Complete to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping. Bind off for armhole and shoulder on WS rows.

SLEEVES With straight needles, cast on 56(56-60-64-68-72) sts. Work even in St st for 3 1/2”, end on WS. Dec 1 st each side on next row, then every 4 1/2” 3 times more – 48(48-52-56-60-64) sts. Work even until sleeve measure 18” from beg, end on WS. Shape Cap: Bind off 2(3-4-5-5-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 44(42-44-46-50-52) sts. Dec 1 st each side every RS row 11(12-13-11-11-9) times, every other RS row 0(0-0-1-1-2) times, then EVERY row 4(2-0-0-0-0) times, end on WS. Bind off remaining 14(14-18-22-26-30) sts.

FINISHING Measure down 9(9-9 1/2-10-10 1/2-11)” from shoulder on front edge of right and left fronts and place markers. Fold first 5 sts of frontbands to WS of fronts and sew to markers. Sew shoulder seams, sewing double thickness of frontbands to sides of back neckband. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Edging: With RS facing, using crochet hook, beg at marker on left front, work in sc along left front, lower and right front edges to marker on right front. Fasten off.
