CELEBRATING 1 YEAR OF MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE, ONE SONG AT A TIME! General Information: Livin’ the Music is a non-profit organization (501c3 pending) that was founded on the idea that music can, and will, change the world ~ the purpose of Livin’ the Music is to use music to bring light, love & hope to those in need. At each event, a local non-profit is selected. Livin’ the Music’s purpose is to educate the public on the showcased non-profit organization and how it benefits the community. Livin’ the Music wants to do whatever possible to help the selected non-profit achieve their goals in the community.
www.livinthemusic.org Over the past year, Livin’ the Music has produced events for the Lili Claire Foundation (helping special needs kids) in Nashville and Los Angeles, for The Los Angeles Inner-city Lacrosse Association (teaching innercity kids Lacrosse) in Los Angeles, for The Voice of the Wetlands (coastal conservation in Louisiana) in Baton Rouge, LA, and for CAN-DO (providing disaster relief world-wide, hurricane relief in Louisiana) in Baton Rouge. These events have been very successful in helping these organizations in their individual missions. Livin’ the Music’s involvement doesn’t end with the event. Some of our artists, personnel and volunteers are also involved in on-going projects with The Lili Claire Foundation’s Nashville and Los Angeles family resource centers, CANDO’s hurricane relief efforts in Southern Louisiana; and on Thursday, January 8th, to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, Livin’ the Music will help Soles4Souls launch their "Takin' it to the Streets" campaign. On the 8th, we will be going to 4 different places in Nashville (homeless shelter, women's shelter, etc) and fitting the people with shoes. A different group of artists will join us at each area to help. January is the heart of winter in Nashville. I know that a pair of shoes may not seem like that much, but when you don't have them...it is. Livin' the Music is joining together with Soles4Souls on January 8th to "Take it to the Streets" in Nashville. At 6PM we will end our "shoe drive" at 3rd and Lindsley where Livin' the Music will host our 1 year anniversary event, benefitting Soles4Souls. Our events have the basic structure of a songwriters round, but they are not your typical songwriters night. They are a place where the artists can relax, have fun and collaborate with fellow songwriters. The evening consists of 3-4 writers rounds and either a jam round or a closing band at the end of the night. Each round is approximately 1 hour in length (45 minutes of entertainment and 15 minutes for changeover). We have a growing network of gifted songwriters whose music has a positive message - who believe music can, and will, change the world. It is incredibly inspiring to find people from all walks of life, across all genres of music, with the same message of optimism. Livin’ the Music would love for you to join us as we spread this energy and awareness. We are looking forward to you joining us in our mission. Music is the vehicle for the message. PLEASE HELP US MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE, ONE SONG AT A TIME.

MARTY CHRISTIAN - www.myspace.com/martychristian A longtime resident of Austin, TX, Marty Christian found his most recent home in Lafayette, LA when he joined Thomas “Big Hat” Fields’ Zydeco Band in 2003. Since arriving in Louisiana, Marty has begun to focus on his own songwriting and powerful Blues-based solo shows. His debut CD, Bluesicana on Street Man Records takes listeners on an acoustic journey through the musical worlds he has known as a performer in both Texas and Louisiana." TAB BENOIT - www.myspace.com/tabbenoitblues Louisiana..’s 1 Roots Music Export! Guitarist-singer Tab Benoit is the real deal. Born and raised on the Louisiana bayou, this self-proclaimed “new kid from the old school” has been the standard bearer for a new generation of Cajun blues musicians – a traditionalist and an innovator at the same time, grafting elements of rock and soul to the indigenous sounds of the bayou. And if dedicating his life to his musical roots weren’t enough, Benoit has also been a tireless crusader in recent years – prior to the devastation of hurricane Katrina but even more so since – for the preservation of the rapidly vanishing wetlands of his native region. BEKKA BRAMLETT - www.myspace.com/bekkabramlett Bekka Bramlett one of the most in-demand vocalists today. Bekka, who replaced Stevie Nicks in the iconic band FLEETWOOD MAC, from 1993-1997, earned her rightful place in history with her musical prowess. Her forwardthinking attitude and sound had her recording duets with the likes of Billy Joel, Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, Dwight Yoakum, Vince Gill, Johnny Lang, the legendary “Soul Man” (Sam and Dave) Sam Moore, Bad Company, Kenny Rogers, John Waite, Delbert McClinton and more. Bekka’s down home, commonsense approach to life has somehow allowed her to accomplish this with humility and grace. These capabilities have led Bekka to having hits with Jessica Andrews, Etta James, Dobey Grey, Shamikia Copeland, Faith Hill, and many more, including the Faith Hill hit, “ONE”, as well as “UNSAVABLE” (both on Faith’s chart topping 2002 CD, “CRY”). SHELLY & THE PEOPLE - www.myspace.com/shellyfairchild In some parts of the world, the actual geography penetrates the soul of a being. In 2007 she formed the band called “Shelly & The People”. With Shelly & The People comes the spirit of all the early R&B artists who have gone before them. STEVE GOODIE - www.punchsound.com Steve began his comedy career at the age of five, when he was requested for a command performance before England's highest dignitaries, juggling sixty-three watermelons while playing the trombone. From there, Steve went on to Kindergarten, where he majored in finger painting and graham cracker spitting. At the age of nine, Steve got his first really big break in show business, headlining at Caesar's Palace with his Sabre-Tooth Walrus act, now legendary. Sid Caesar said of Steve, "What a geek." However, the commute to Las Vegas from Steve's hometown of Wilmette, Illinois, proved to be too much. At fifteen, Steve was learning how to play the guitar, and by age seventeen had gotten four of the strings on. In college, Steve formed a neo-punk bubble-fusion group called Imperial Trout Farm, which landed a record deal with a small but wellrespected Cambodian label. But the 90s found Steve floundering, unsure, and smelling pretty bad. His spirits were low, his health was failing, and his car was getting only four miles to the gallon. Steve heard the voices, and they were saying, "Get into comedy before you run out of gas money." Steve moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he became a regular at Zanies. His bizarre humor kept the audiences begging for more liquor, which made the club owners grin. The road was calling, and Steve was ready to answer: "What? Are you talking to me?" he asked. fORMER - www.myspace.com/formerband What’s in a name? In the case of fORMER, quite a bit. Rising from the ashes of several defunct Nashville acts and seemingly dominated by former members of this or that band. Pop hooks backed with a wall of guitars, a powerhouse rhythm section, three-part vocal harmonies, and just enough ivories and strings to earn their ELO merit badge, has proven to be a potent combination, earning the band multiple nominations in Nashville Modern Rock station WBUZ102.9’s Local Rock Awards, winning “Best Song” for their tune “Lies”, as well as “Best Alternative Band”, and “Best Bassist” honors in their annual Listeners’ Choice Awards. fORMER have supported such national acts as Staind, Breaking Benjamin , Luna Halo, Night Ranger, The Exies, Nonpoint, Eve 6, 12 Stones, Cowboy Mouth, Evan’s Blue, Three Days Grace, Bang Camaro, John Corabi, and more, and continue to perform throughout the Southeast and Midwest while wrapping up work on their debut full-length to be released in the Fall of 2008. LAURIANNE CATES - www.myspace.com/lauriannecates Born and raised in music city, Laurianne Cates is no stranger to the music scene. If you’ve seen her in concert or heard a recording, then you’ve discovered what makes her so unique. Sure, there is an unending supply of songwriters musing on the search for love, independence, and security, and there are even more singers who can wring the last drop of emotion out of a heartfelt lyric. But very rarely does someone combine these two vocations with such grace as Laurianne. She uses the power of vocal restraint to great effect in conveying the ache of regret and a hope for what still lies ahead. –Hunter Kelly, ABC Radio

KEVIN SIMON - www.myspace.com/kevinsimonband Kevin Simon hails from the bayou region of south Louisiana, growing up among south Louisiana waterways and sugercain fields. Kevin has been emersed in south Louisiana rock ,blues ,country and swamp music !!! Kevin has an uncommon talent for songwriting at his young age of 17 . When Kevin isnt preforming he is attending his senior year of high school in New Iberia LA. Besides preforrming his music Kevin runns cross country and track for his school as well as volinteering with Acadiana Kids . So with his busy schedule Kevin still finds time to write and hone is skills as a country music artist. With his smooth tender voice and songwriting skills beyond his 17 years of age Kevin is finding his place among the up and comming artists in south Louisiana !!! TRIBAL BUTTERFLY - www.myspace.com/tribalbutterflyband Tribal Butterfly began as a whimsical, throw caution to the wind road trip from LA to L.A. back in 1999, and although Brad and TJ have made it back to Louisiana, their journey seems to have only just begun. A rock-n-roll romance that would read like a manuscript, their performances are anything but scripted. Aside from the fact that they are amazingly talented musicians with credits to boot, as performers they are intimate while seemingly larger than life. Their chemistry transcribes through their music straight to their audience in a way that remains undeniable yet undefined. MIKE DEAN - www.myspace.com/mikedeanmusicstyletypetextcsssourcehttp It's a long long way from LA. to L.A., and in his third release, this Louisiana Native yet again gives a fine glimpse into the life of the Gulf Coast Southerner and Gentleman. The album opener "Went West" is brought to you in part by a 3,000 mile road trip and a song written atop the Grand Canyon, and so respectfully, the roll of that road echoes throughout the collection. From the all too familiar desire to check out of life and drive on, to the comfort of the drive home, Dean covers the dream, and along the way, he narrates those same wonderful stories of love, life, and the loss that we all know too well. Take the chopper ride to an oil platform in "7 and 7", where the waves and the thoughts of being home drown the monotony and solitude of the virtually migrant Louisiana Oilman, or walk through the "Woods" on a brisk Louisiana morning on his day off, but in true Dean fashion, don't forget the ritual of kicking back on Saturday night for a few cold ones with close friends and family. These songs give it to you straight, and in this work, Dean and company continue to give us the same genuine perspective that has earned our ear twice before. Four and a half Mile Markers out of 5. REX MOROUX - www.rexmoroux.com If a song can make you cry – or laugh – that’s a measure of how it touches your soul. There’s no question that Moroux’s songs have the ability to do both. When you’re from a place where the music is literally written on the wind, you can’t help but let it blow through you – and for Rex Moroux, that beats out AC any day. The 28-year-old, Lafayette native has been able to devote himself to developing his art – and his second album, “Royal Street Inn,” named for a New Orleans hostel, is filled with the winning results.
JARYD LANE - www.jarydlane.com When asked, Jaryd Lane will tell you - without hesitation - what he enjoys most about music, "It's all about the songs for me. Great songs with great stories." All of the tracks, penned in Nashville for his new CD "RIDING FOR THE BRAND", prove that. This Louisiana native has been inspired by artists ranging from James Taylor to Merle Haggard. Whether he's playing solo or with a full band behind him, Jaryd's raw and soulful voice is winning audiences all over the southwest. In a style that varies from Skynyrd grit to acoustic country and blues, Jaryd touches hard working fun loving people with songs about love, sin, God, and family - with lyrics that speak to everyday people about everyday life. The opportunity to open for national acts such as David Allan Coe, Mark Chestnut, Billy Currington, Chris Cagle, Edwin McCain, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Sammy Kershaw, Tracy Lawrence and John Conlee has helped this southerner turn more than a few heads and is sure to keep 'em turnin'.
DENITIA ODIGIE - www.myspace.com/denitiaodigie An inventive songwriter and incredibly gifted vocalist, Denitia channels her songwriting from her love of wide-ranging musical styles into a fresh and highly individual sound, and her voice is equal parts power and nuance, passion and control. It is no wonder that she is impressing a growing contingent of critics and fans. She was called "the find of the Fest" at the POP Montreal Festival, and she inspired one critic to say, "If you bemoan the lack of passion in singers today, you must see and hear this woman sing." "In my formative years," the 24-year-old says, "I was learning the words to George Strait and Reba McEntire tunes and rocking out to all the nouveau grunge that was on the radio in the mid-90s. Now I live in Nashville, where this Americana/roots rock/altcountry thing is just in the air." The combination emerges in arresting lyrics and scintillating melodies that bring together otherwise disparate listeners. CLARA OMAN - www.myspace.com/claraoman Clara Oman grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado, in the Rocky Mountains. 5 years ago she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and with her outstanding talents completed her debut album ‘From Now On'. The album was released in the UK and Eire on 29th October 2007, along with her debut single ‘Forgetful Me'. "Clara Oman is one of the most gifted all-round singer/songwriters and producers I have met. To have this much talent at such a young age is mind-blowing. I have been in the business myself for over 20 years as a singer/songwriter and producer, and when I first heard Clara's demos, I was amazed to discover that she not only wrote the songs herself, but also arranged, recorded and produced them all in her tiny apartment in Nashville!" - Billy Dean, Grammy Award Winning Country Music Artist TIFFANY JOHNSON - www.tiffanyjohnsonlive.com Tiffany Johnson is a phenomenal singer who has dedicated her talents to engage people with the mission of her favorite charity: Soles4Souls.
