Unrivalled experience in the lottery world The Octavian Lottery Division, led by principal consultant and GSI founder Mark Hutchinson, has been involved in the global lottery industry since 1983.

More than 25 years’ experience in lottery start-ups Having assisted with start-ups and development of United States lotteries from 1983 to 1989, GSI went global in the United Kingdom in 1989. Following this, during the ’90s, the company played a leading role in numerous successful lottery start-ups across Europe and Africa.

Mobile, wireless technology introduced Mobile, wireless games were introduced in tandem with the launch of GSM wireless technology by GSI in 1995 in South Africa. GSI technology was used to generate funds and support games such as ‘So You Want To Be A Millionaire’ 10 years ago, and continued to be developed and deployed across Africa and Europe.

Convergence From 2000 onwards, GSI turned its attention once more to the US lottery markets – to focus specifically on the convergence of gaming machines (VLTs) and mobile, wireless gaming and, in 2007, GSI joined forces with Octavian.

Systems expertise The lottery sector was already an extremely important and growing market for Octavian. In the early years of the new millennium, Octavian had its systems selected by the national lotteries of Argentina and Bolivia. Soon after, having anticipated the burgeoning interest in downloadable games and server-based/serverassisted gaming, the company made significant investment in developing its Symphony downloadable games and lottery management systems.
