Ford EcoBoost Engine Technology: More with Less SPARK PLUG

PISTON
It’s a simple fact: Even with advancements in technology, the majority of vehicles worldwide – millions of vehicles – DIRECT will be gasoline powered. Ford’s new EcoBoost™ gas-turbo direct-injection (DI)INJECTION engines (DI) can help provide up to 20 percent better fuel economy without sacrificing power that drivers want.

ENGINE EXHAUST
6 = 8, 4 = 6 With both factors in the equation, the EcoBoost six-cylinder engine can produce like a V-8; an I-4 like a V-6. In addition, Ford’s six-speed SMALLER transmission offers smoother acceleration and better economy. ENGINE BLOCK
EnergyENGINE from the engine’s exhaust – that would EXHAUST otherwise be wasted – is used to rotate a AMBIENT turbine wheel. AIR
The turbine is coupled to a compressor that pressurizes the incoming air, significantly increasing the output per liter of the engine. The traditional disadvantages of “boosting” – turbo lag and knock – are mitigated by the synergy with direct injection. ENGINE EXHAUST
CO2 ENGINE
Advantages include: more precise delivery of fuel for AMBIENT lower emissions, improved AIR volumetric efficiency and avoidance of knock for better performance and fuel efficiency.

Highly pressurized fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder rather than traditional mixing with the DIRECT INJECTION incoming air in(DI) the inlet port.
