Goal To recognise and respond to numbers in Portuguese. Learning outcome Students use the numbers 1–99 in Portuguese. Skills used * Listening * Speaking Steps 1. Give a copy of the dog template to each student. 2. Call the first two numbers (in Portuguese), pausing to let the students find the corresponding dots and draw the connecting lines. 3. Call the next number in the sequence, checking that everyone is keeping up. If necessary, call the number several times. 4. Repeat until all numbers are called and all students have completed the picture. Tips * Tick the numbers off as you call them. * Have the students repeat the number aloud as they look for it. Variations * Ask individual students to anticipate the next four numbers * To reinforce number knowledge, divide class into small groups and have the group member take turns reading out the sequences of numbers to their group. Follow up * Students create a join-the-dots game from their own drawings, and play in groups.
