LESSON PLAN Lesson: Winter in Venice Unit: Places Estimated time: 50 minutes

Lesson aims: Students will be able to explain clearly the rules of Passive Voice The students should be able to describe places using Passive Voice The students will be able to use collocations Teaching materials: textbook, blackboard, computer, worksheets, dictionary Type of lesson: mixed Strategies: individual work, pair-work, group-work Skills: speaking, listening, writing, reading PROCEDURE Activity 1-Warm up The teacher greets the class and the students greet back. The teacher asks for absentees. The students on duty name the absentees if necessary. Interaction: T-S Estimated time: 2 minutes Activity 2- Checking up the homework The teacher asks for homework. The students answer and say that they had to answer the question: What is your favourite place to visit and why? The teacher asks the students to read their homework. The teacher corrects and explains when necessary. Interaction: T-S, S-S Estimated time: 5 minutes Activity 3

Students are asked to look at the pictures and to explain why those places are famous for. Then they are asked to listen to the text of Part 1 and underline the correct word. Students are explained the new words and they are asked to memorise the collocations and expressions given. Interaction: T-S, S-S Estimated time: 5 minutes Activity 4 The students are asked to listen to the text about Venice. While listening they are asked to follow the text and to pay attention to the underlined constructions. The students are asked to translate the constructions. Interaction; T-S, S-S Estimated time: 5 minutes Activity 5 The teacher asks the students about the pattern of the underlined phrases. After hearing their opinion, the teacher tells them that their lesson for today would be the Passive Voice. The teacher presents the students the pattern on the computer and they are asked to name the tenses used in sentences. Interaction: T-S, S-T Estimated time: 10 minutes Activity 6 The teacher asks students to watch the power point presentation and to complete the sentences using the words in bold. The students will have to use Passive Voice. Interaction: T-S, S-S Estimated time: 10 minutes Activity 7 –The feedback of the lesson The teacher gives the students a piece of paper and asks them to complete the sentences with the right form. The students are encouraged to express their ideas. Interaction: T-S, S-S Estimated time: 10 minutes Activity 8-Homework assignment The teacher communicates the students their homework. The teacher writes on the blackboard and tells the students to write down in their notebooks.
