Different between formal and informal greetings In Latin America the Spanish pronouns depend of the customs or the country, the formal and informal pronouns can be different, but the more commons are “Usted” (formal third person) and “Tú” (informal second person).
Formal (Usted = You) ¿Cómo está usted? ¿Cómo está? ¿Cómo le va? ¿Y usted? Buenos días Buenas tardes Buenas noches Hasta luego Hasta pronto Hasta mañana Cuídese
Informal (Tú/Vos* = You) ¿Cómo estás? ¡Hola! ¿Qué hay de nuevo? ¡Hola! ¿Qué tal? ¿Cómo va todo? ¿Todo bien? ¿Y tú? Nos vemos Que tengas un buen día! Cuídate
*The personal pronoun “Vós” is not very common, but it is used in some countries like Argentina, Spain and Costa Rica. I am going to talk more detailed about this personal pronoun in another lesson.
Useful Expressions In the above sections I describe some of the commons greetings, but they are some of them that are the more used and can be used in any country.
