Teaching Points 1. Feet shoulder width apart

Take Off
Teaching Points 1. Arms/legs move in opposite direction
2. Lean body forward
3. Start with small steps and gradually move to bigger steps
4. Arms drive forward in relaxed style, elbows bent
5. Keep head erect and eyes up 6. If leading to the right take off with right foot and vice versa Safe Landing - Two foot
Teaching points 1. Land with feet shoulder width apart to give a firm support base 2. 2. Keep strong torso (body upright) bend at hips, knees and ankles on impact to cushion landing
3. Continue to bend knees after impact to help with a balanced soft landing
4. Body weight over both feet with shoulders even and weight on both feet
Pivot
Teaching Points 1. Pivoting must always be on the landing foot 2. Bring weight over grounded foot 3. Bend knees slightly 4. Turn on ball of the pivot foot, pushing off with the other foot 5. Non grounded foot is lifted and reground to maintain balance throughout movement 6. Players need to be able to turn quickly after receiving a pass and face the play down cout 7. Keep ball close to body and positioned ready to throw

Ball Skills Catch
Teaching points 1. Eyes on the ball
2. Move towards the ball 3. Extend hands forward with fingers spread and thumbs behind the ball (W formation) ready to receive 4. Extend arms to meet and snatch ball towards the body and control it with fingers and thumbs (relaxed but strong)
Chest Pass
Teaching Points 1. 2. 3. 4.

Ball held close to chest Elbows relaxed by side Step forward with weight transferred onto front foot as the ball is pushed with wrist and fingers 5. Follow through with arms and fingers in direction of pass and eyes looking forward
Shoulder Pass
Teaching Points
1. Stand side on to the intended receiver 2. Feet shoulder width apart with kenes slight bent and weight on back foot at start of throw 3. Ball can be held with two hands but as the arm is taken back behind the shoulder the ball is held with one hand 4. Arms extended, with elbows slightly bent, shoulders turned 5. Opposite foot to the throwing arm should be forward Bounce Pass
Teaching Points 1. Can be with one or two hands from in front or the side of the body
2. Ball can be held at either waist or hip level and similar to a shoulder pass
3. Push ball forward and downwards and release ball between the hip and knee
4. Path of the ball is lower- under the outstretched hands of the defender
5. Bend knees and step forward onto front foot
Lob Pass
Teaching Points 1. One or two handed pass
2. Ball should be released above the head
3. One handed high release
4. Follow through in direction of pass with wrist/ fingers
Shooting Teaching Points 1. Ball is held above head
2. Arms are extended with the shooting arm reasonable straight and close to the ear
3. Ball rests on the base of the spread fingers and the thumb
4. The opposite hand is placed on the side of the ball to steady it
5. Stand upright with feet shoulder width apart
6. Bend the elbows and knees, straighten elbows and knees, release the ball, flick the ball with the wrist
