SPC and Doosan made it possible to have the erection done earlier due to

continuous improvement of the construction planning strategy as well as incorporating KSPC’s commitment to provide services to its customers by 2011. Steel structure is composed of beams and girders used to make the steel frame of the boiler building. These steel frames will hold the boiler building steam drum, pipings and auxiliary equipments. The steel structure completion will take 10 months. Next will be the lifting of the steam drum to be installed inside the boiler building. Others boiler parts will also be installed. Boiler parts include boiler water and steam tubes, superheaters and reheaters, headers, waterwalls and economizers.

Construction Power

O

ne of the basic requirements in every construction is electricity. It is

needed to run welding machines, electric drills and other construction tools necessary for construction. It is also being utilized to power up temporary site offices of contractors’ facilities and warehouses. After a lenghty deliberations study and review, VECO was contracted for the supply of construction power. The Construction Power Facility is being constructed by Jusung Electric Construction Company. The facility is adopting the latest technology with strict compliance of the latest electrical codes and standards of the Philippines with utmost consideration for the Health, Safety & Environment. With the energization of the costruction power facility last, it boosted the erection of steel structure activities and would enable to parallel other construction works to achieve our goal to be on-line in February 2011 & May 2011 for Units 1 and 2, respectively.

Control Building Construction

T

he Control Building, come commercial operations on 2011, will house

the Control Room necessary for the operation and monitoring of the 2x100 MW Cebu Power Plant. This building will serve as the plant’s Central Nervous System as all the control systems are found in this building. The Control Building presently is undergoing water proofing system, adopting the asphalt shingle system. Excavation has been achieved at 100% with lean concrete done. It is located between two (2) Boiler Building structures. Embedded below the lean concrete are pre-casted reinforced concrete piles. They are located and driven with each distinct coordinate. Such pile and its locations were strategically placed and designed based on the principles of Structural Engineering. The reinforced steel bar installation will be commenced after the water proofing is finished.
