D.C. Kids Count Collaborative to Release 16th Annual Report Card on Well-Being of Children & Families in the District of Columbia on December 16 Report provides detailed ward and neighborhood data Washington D.C. ---The D.C. KIDS COUNT Collaborative will release its 16th annual report detailing the well-being of children and families in the District of Columbia during an event on Wednesday, December 16, 2009. The report, Every Kid Counts in the District of Columbia, 16th Annual Fact Book 2009, contains the most recent data on selected indicators of child and family well-being in the District of Columbia. The report examines a variety of indicators, including poverty, infant mortality rates, violent teen deaths, educational achievement, adequacy of prenatal care and child abuse. It also provides detailed ward and neighborhood data, and recommendations for improving conditions.
Every Kid Counts in the District of Columbia, 16th Annual Fact Book 2009, will be released during a news conference on December 16, 2009 at 9:30 am at the Urban Institute (2100 M Street, NW, 5th Floor, Washington, DC 20037) Speakers at the event will include:

Following the briefing, Laura Beavers of the Annie E. Casey Foundation will present a workshop on how to access and use child wellbeing data on their database. The D.C. KIDS COUNT Collaborative for Children and Families is a unique alliance of public and private organizations using research to support advocacy for changes in human, social, and economic policies and practices of government, the private sector, families, neighborhoods, and individuals. Its mission is to fight for the interests and well-being of children and families, and to ensure their healthy development and future in D.C. Member organizations of the D.C.
