Subject Matter: Attached Petition of Dick Hiebert and Pat Patterson Interveners: Michael Kapoustin, tel. 1 (613) 240 5736

Dear Prime Minister Harper: Let me take this opportunity to formally thank you, Jason Kenny and Stockwell Day for the support and assistance of these many years. Today marks 6 months since the end of my exile and return to Canada, and the ending of a 12 year and 6 month odyssey of pain and torture. In that time I have not been idle. Attached is a request addressed to you from the family of Canadian Kevin Hiebert, a case that might well attract international and Canadian media attention sometime in the next days or weeks. For me, as a Canadian, I would like nothing better would than to see a “win” situation here, one that finds the Greek government abandoning its position of not permitting Kevin Hiebert to serve his criminal sentence in Canada. The Greek argument sounding very much like that of the Bulgarian government when refusing Minister Day’s request for my return, and that refusal precipitating a complaint before the Council of Europe. I pray that you and your staff will quickly address the attached petition and offer a solution to ending the suffering of the mother and father. As a group we look forward to the speedy and human resolution of Kevin Hiebert being on Canada soil and under Canadian protection.
Sincerely, Michael Kapoustin January 6th 2009
