Juno In this film the protagonist is an independent-minded teenage girl who gets pregnant in the age of 16 and she confronts the subsequent events that put burdens of adult life onto her. The baby’s father is her friend and longtime admirer. At first she intends to have an abortion, but she changes her mind and decides to give the baby for adoption. The title character is represented as a clever, independent and strong woman which is seldom seen in the movies and as such lacks stereotype. The movie shows insignificance of men, especially fathers. However, she is supported by her father and stepmother which represents significant role that parents play in child’s life and decisions. Juno is firmly determined for her baby’s adoption and her profound will could be the subject of approval. This movie is about women facing unplanned pregnancies and their way of dealing with such liability. It also shows potential decisions concerning their life and inevitable choice they are about to make: abortion or giving birth. However, I think that the underlying theme is possibly that unmarried teenagers should not get pregnant. It is discussable whether abstinence or birth control is the best way to accomplish this, but the end goal is the same. Regarding the issue of abortion, this film probably has a pro-choice theme. The film demonstrates that there is a choice, it depends on individuals what should it be. But, it can be called as pro-life movie given the fact that the main character chose to give a birth. People should not necessary take movies and similar things as positive things in their life and they should definitely think on their own. We cannot blame movies for our deeds, whether they are good or bad. Teenagers today have wrong influences in their life.
