Heartchangers Partners in ministry
making a difference
July 2009
Dear Ministry Partner, Recently I had just read a story about Mike Yaconelli. For those of you who don't know of Mike, he was one of the founders of Youth Specialties and one of the founding editors of Wittenberg Door magazine. It was in a video clip that Mike was expressing the frustrations of hundreds of youth pastors and those called to ministry. He says that the church will give them forms to fill out to give an estimation of what their ministry has accomplished in the past week, month or year. He says, "We sit there all day with a report and we can't fill it out because THERE ARE NO WORDS because this is a calling that is beyond words!" I must admit to you there are many times that I feel the same way when it is time to give you all an update—what God is doing often feels beyond the words needed to communicate. But nevertheless, giving you an update does demand some words. So during this update let me give you the words of several students that shared with me recently, what CMDA has meant to them. God has used CMDA in my walk with the Lord by opening my heart to fellowship, and my heart to openly walking in faith and incorporating my faith with all aspects of my life. Also it has shown me that I can be a doctor and a Christian and I don't have to check my Christianity at the door. - Heather Clemons, student with Morehouse School of Medicine, ‘11 God has used CMDA in my walk with the Lord by providing me with a group of brothers and sisters in Christ who encourage me on my journey with Him. Thanks to this organization, I have regular opportunities to worship and fellowship with fellow medical students and physicians, which I wouldn't be able to do otherwise. CMDA has also strengthened my relationship with the Lord by embracing missionary projects like trips to Honduras and Cargo of Dreams. - Jacqui O’Kane, student with Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Georgia Campus, ‘12 I wish that I had the space to share with you the dozens and dozens of other stories from doctors, medical school students and people throughout Atlanta whose lives are being transformed by Jesus and who are making an impact for Christ. As another example of making an impact for Christ, I would encourage to watch my interview with Jacqui O’Kane on the CMDA website at www.cmdaatlanta.org. We discuss an exciting new opportunity for CMDA Atlanta. We have the opportunity as a medical community locally here in Atlanta to make a global impact, through a project called Cargo of Dreams. Thank you so much for your prayers and ministry partnership with CMDA Atlanta. Without your partnership this ministry here in Atlanta wouldn’t be possible. Again, thank you.
Serving Him Together,
P.S. By the time you receive this update I will have just returned from a CMDA medical missions trip to San Marcos de Colon, Honduras with Dr. Rick Boden. During the next Heartchangers letters I will give you an update on all that God did in Honduras.
