Unemployment: Unemployment NYC increased to 5.2% from 4.7% and up from 5.1% 2007 (5 Boroughs – 4.8%, 4.5%, & 4.7%) Job Growth Private Sector grew (+1.0%) Non-farm jobs up (+1.0%) Recession??? In macroeconomics , a recession is a decline in a country's gross domestic product (GDP), or negative real economic growth , for two or more successive quarters of a year. It feels like a recession when GDP growth slows, businesses stop expanding, employment falls, unemployment rises, and housing prices decline.
