Jesus, The Christ
Sing Together…….Psalm 84:9-12
Leader: “…Jesus … asked his disciples, „Who do people say the Son of Man is?‟
Suggested rewording of Stanza 5 – rewording in bold print.
People:
Look Thou, O God, upon our Shield; The face of Christ, Your anointed see;1 One day within Your courts will yield More good than thousands without Thee. I‟d rather stand near my God‟s house Than dwell in tents of wickedness.
They replied, „Some say John the Baptist; Others say Elijah; And still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.‟ Leader: „But what about you?‟ he asked. „Who do you say I am?‟ People: Simon Peter answered, „You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.‟ Leader: Jesus replied, „Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, For this was not revealed to you by man, But by my Father in heaven.

People: …and on this rock I will build my church, And the gates of Hades will not overcome it…” (Matthew 16:13-17)

Those original New Testament readers who read both their Old (Septuagint) & New Testaments in the ancient Greek language have been the only Scripture readers able to read about “Christ” in both their Old & New Testaments. I think we should be able to do the same.
