Union High School of Manila Alumni Association (UHSMAA) General Meeting January 17, 2009 8:00 A.M. McCafe. The Fort

MINUTES OF THE MEETING ATTENDEES: Dr. Jose Perez (63) Clyde dela Calzada (72) Lily Nepomuceno (65) Neri Loria (79) Carmel Beltran-Yoder (80) Dario Borje (81) Mutya Torres (2000) Dened Ili (2000)

MINUTES: 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order and was presided over by UHSMAA Pres. Joper.

2. SIGNING OF ASSOCIATION BY-LAWS Since majority of the officers were present, the By-Laws of the Association was reviewed, finalized and signed. A copy of the signed By Laws will be notarized and presented at the next meeting.

3. FINANCIAL MATTERS 3.1.Outstanding Alumni Funds It is decided that previous Alumni Funds turned over to the College Treasury for many years must be returned to the UHSMAA’s management. For this purpose, PCU’s Officer-in-Charge, Mr. Pacifico Aniag will be invited to one of the UHSMAA General Meetings in order to fully discuss this matter. 3.2.Updated Financial Statement Treasurer Dario Borje presented an updated Financial Statement with the cash balance of P327,368.72 under Metrobank Account No. 261-726150431-2. The F/S was reviewed and approved by the body. 3.3.Opening of CD Account 1

A motion was presented and seconded to open a higher earning CD Account for UHSMAA, using the funds received from previous UHSMAA Officers. Dario was given authority to choose the bank offering the best rates. Check No. 0434304 for P250,000.00 was prepared and signed by the signatories. This amount will be transferred to the CD Account.

3.4. Sponsorship for Central United Methodist Church’s (CUMC) 110th Year Souvenir Program Dario presented a Solicitation Letter from CUMC for the body’s consideration. A motion was presented & seconded to donate P5,000.00 for an Inside Full Page Ad subscription to CUMC’s 110th Founding Anniversary (March 2009) Souvenir Program. The Souvenir Program will be circulated to different churches and the body considers it a good way to promote UHSM’s Anniversary Celebration to other Unionites who may be members of these churches. Check No. 0434303 for P5,000.00 was signed and given to Dario for this purpose.

3.5. An artwork covering the details of the Anniversary must be given to Dario before

February 28.

4. 90th ANNIVERSARY PREPARATIONS 4.1. Theme – solicit suggestions from Alumni (must be finalized before 2nd week of February) 4.2.Title – Pres. Joper suggested the title “The Return of the Panthers” for the Sports Day. 4.3. Date & Time – October 9 (Fri) , 10 (Sat) & 11 (Sun) 4.4. Venue – Sports Day & Homecoming Dinner at the UHSM Gym 4.5. Target No. of Attendees – 500 pax for the Homecoming Dinner, 100 pax for the Sports Day 4.6.Highlights

4.6.1.Sports Day (October 9) – It was suggested that a Basketball competition be held among Alumni and that this be done in memory of Coach Santos. An exhibition game, a pageant and a cheering squad competition were also suggested. The Sports Day event will be called “1st Coach Santos’ Invitational Sports Event”. 4.6.2.Homecoming Dinner (October 10) 4.6.3.Chapel Service (October 11)

4.7. Ticket Prices – Sports Day: Entrance Fee of P250.00 for Audience P500.00 for each player (includes jersey, etc) Homecoming Dinner – P500.00 each 4.8. Hosts – Divine Pascual (65) and Mario Abrante (65) (still to be confirmed) 2

4.9.Company sponsorship may be solicited for the events and the Souvenir Program

5. PRIORITY FUND REQUIREMENTS Funds to be received from Alumni chapters and/or to be generated from the Anniversary celebration will be dedicated to the following: 5.1.A seed fund to cover all Anniversary pre-event costs such as ticket printing, ads & promotions, downpayments for caterers, souvenirs, etc. 5.2.Funds earmarked specially for Renovation of the Alumni Room 5.3.Funds for beautification of UHSM 5.4.Other requests coming from UHSM must be coursed through the UHSMAA so that funds will be properly allocated.

6. MONITORING ALL ALUMNI DONATIONS (IN CASH & IN KIND) Pres. Joper reiterated the importance of informing everyone that Alumni donations to UHSM (in cash or in kind) have to be coursed through the UHSMAA for proper recording and monitoring.

7. ACTION ITEMS 7.1.Pres. Joper will talk to the family of Coach Santos and inform them of the UHSMAA’s plan to hold a Sports Day Event in his honor. 7.2. Lily Nepomuceno will get menu suggestions and quotations from various caterers. She will also get quotations from suppliers of promotional items such as t-shirts, buttons, key chains, mugs, etc) 7.3. Neri Loria will assist in editing the Anniversary Souvenir Program and getting quotations from printers for the Souvenir Program. 7.4.Clyde dela Calzada will arrange this meeting with Mr. Aniag. 7.5.Dario Borje will head the preparations for the Sports Day. 7.6. Mutya Torres and Dened Ili will solicit suggestions for the Anniversary Theme & possibly an artwork expressing this theme. 7.7.Carmel Yoder will continue the Information Campaign for the Anniversary Celebration

8. NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held on February 21, Saturday (venue and time to be announced later).

9. ADJOURNMENT There being no other matters to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
