The IPW Project. Done by:

Where we’re going? We had to decide which place we want to help for the IPW project and what better place to go to than S.P.C.A!
What is SPCA? • S.P.C.A. is a registered animal welfare which relies on donations from their supporters to help the unwanted pets and stray animals.
A few things about SPCA.
• The Singapore S.P.C.A was in existence in the 1800s • S.P.C.A receives approximately 700 unwanted pets and stray animals every month • Their two main objectives are to promote kindness and to prevent cruelty to animals.
Let’s look at some of the lives that S.P.C.A saved…
21 May 2007 Owner reported to S.P.C.A that her dog’s head was stuck in the fence. They went to the scene and sawed through the metal gate, giving freedom to the animal.
April 2008 An ear-tipped cat had stayed on the tree for a day because it couldn't get down. As it was pouring heavily the next day, S.P.C.A were called in to help. With a long stick to gently shoo the cat, it finally made its way down and ran away to a sheltered area.
August 2008 A puppy was reportedly stuck in forested area behind a wired fence at the Kranji Sanctuary Golf Club on 24th August. The area was flooded to almost knee level because of heavy rain. The pup was subsequently rescued by Desmond and Raja, two of their Animal Handling Officers. It was then reunited back with its parents.
February 2009 On 25 February, S.P.C.A received a report of two bats trapped in a net on a tree, on the corner of Roseburn Ave and Dunbar Walk. An S.P.C.A Animal Handling Officer rescued the animals & released them from the nets. The animals were later released.
How can we help? We could:
• Help raise funds for the organization by : - Selling Handmade crafts to the public - Collect Pet Food for the organization - Ask the public to donate to S.P.C.A • Volunteer to help out at the animal shelter. Not only do we know more about S.P.C.A, we will also be able to come in contact with the animals!
More pets are being abused and neglected by their owners as their pets grow older, while wild animals are being at risk from being poached and even from our society today… We can make a difference in their lives by just helping them raise funds and doing volunteer work.
We shall stop here… We’ve come to the end of the presentation. We hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for listening! :)
