jhr’s Train the Trainer Program Empowering Canadian Youth in Human Rights Education

Overall Program Goal: Increase awareness of human rights amongst Canadians

Train the Trainer Program Rights Media Workshops: All participants at the Chapter Sponsored Train the Trainer Workshops will deliver the Rights Media workshop to two high school classes.

Chapter Sponsored Train the Trainers: Each Chapter will deliver the Train the Trainers Workshop in their university and colleges

Train the Trainer Workshops: Three regional training sessions for jhr Chapter members which train participants on the deliver of the Train the Trainer workshop

What This Program Is Not: • A workshop to teach journalism skills • A workshop that will make you a human rights expert • A workshop to teach about jhr’s international programs • A workshop that focuses on Africa and international development • A workshops that provides in-depth coverage of human rights theory

What This Program Is • A workshop that will give you the skills for being an effective facilitator • A workshop that provides skills in working with human right instruments • A workshop that will introduce the participants to human right issues in Canada • A workshop that will provide information on rights media

Throughout the Workshop Remember: • A facilitator does not need to be an expert on the topic • A facilitator does not teach but draws on the knowledge and experience of the participants and encourages dialogue and peer learning
