Sociobiological hypothesis: General idea: Behavior
in humans—or any other species—can be viewed as the result of thousands of years of evolution in which “successful” genes survive and prosper whereas “unsuccessful” genes die out.
In Darwinian terms, success defined as those genes which are passed on to the next generation through reproduction.
Parental investment hypothesis (Trivers, 1985) Females:
