NAUGHTY LIST This week… Every student in the class has failed to complete the assigned work. FOR A YEAR 13 CLASS THIS IS ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE, ESPECIALLY ON A FIRST DEADLINE.

AIMS • To understand initial audience research required for Unit 4. • To begin audience research.

FOCUS GROUPS The aim is to find out in depth information about your audience’s response to your documentary idea. 4 questions/discussion points per idea •1 focusing on your idea’s appeal •1 focusing on the content of your idea •1 focusing on the style of your documentary •1 entirely of your choosing All questions should seek to illicit qualitative responses. You should aim to make use of some stimulus in your focus group e.g. a 30 second video, picture, poster, article…

FOCUS GROUPS PRESENTING YOUR FINDINGS You should record each focus group separately using a flip camera – this means a separate video for each of your three groups. Each focus group is limited to nine minutes – this is so it can be uploaded to Youtube and posted to your blog. For each video: •Post to your blog •Explain what you found out about your audience’s opinions in your focus group (minimum one paragraph). •Explain how your focus group has affected the viability of your idea (minimum one paragraph).

THIS IS YOUR ONE AND ONLY EXTENSION ON THE COURSE FAILURE TO MEET ALL THESE DEADLINES WILL BE PUTTING YOUR PLACE ON THE COURSE IN JEOPARDY
