Knowledge is the awareness and understanding of a set of information and the ways that information can be made useful to support a specific task or reach a decision. Knowledge workers (K/W) are people who create, use, and disseminate knowledge, and are usually professionals in science, engineering, business, and other areas. Information should be Accessible, accurate, complete, economical, flexible, relevant, reliable, secure, simple, timely, verifiable. System: is a set of elements or components that interact to accomplish goals. Efficiency is a measure of what is produced divided by what is consumed. Ranges from 0-100. Effectiveness is a measure of the extent to which a system achieves its goals. It can be computed by dividing goals actually achieved by the total of the stated goals. An Information System is a set of interrelateed components that collect, manupulate, store, and disseminate data and information and provide a feedback mechanism to meet an objective. Input: It is the activity of gathering and capturing the raw data. Pocesing : means converting r transforming data int usefull output. Can involvemaking calculations, comparing data and taking alternative actions and storing data for future. Output: Involves producing usefull informations, usually in the form of document an d reports. Feedback: is informatin from the system that is used to make changes to input or processsing activities. Computer-Based Information System (CBIS): Rely on computer hardware and software, Processing and disseminating information It is a single set of hardware, software, database, telecommunications, people, and procedures that are configured to collect, manipualate, store, and process data into information. Hardware: Consist of computer equipment used to perform input, processing and output activities. (EDR) Input - Mice, Keyboards, automatic scanning device. Processing device: CPU, main memory, chips. Output: Printers, comp screens. Software: consist of computer programs that govern the operation of the computer. XP, MO2003. Database: is an organized collection of facts and information, typically consisting of two or more related data files.

Telecommunications: is the electronic transmission of signals for communications, which enables organizations to carry out their processes and task through effective computer networks. Networks : connect computers and equipment. (Internet, Intranet, extranet) People: are the most impp element Procedures: iclude the strategies, policies, methods and rules for using the CBIS including the operation, maintenance, and security of the comp. Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Applies technology to look at customers from a multi faced perspective. Uses a set of integrated applications to address all aspects of customer relationship, including customer service, sales and marketing
