In the back drop of prevailing Socio-political scenario, it is the need of time to share ideas and strengthen the social fabric of the society. Youth are the vital players of the society and they are the future leaders. IST envisages to provide a platform for the students to interact and share their potentials though IST Twin City Inter-University Challenge. General Instructions 1. Eligibility: Undergraduate/Postgraduate University/College students 2. Registration Dead Line: Friday, March 20, 2009, 1600 hrs. Kindly send the nominations on official letter head with official seal along with the name of the faculty member and correspondence address and contact number either by email, fax or courier. 3. Student ID / NIC: Bring the original Student card /NIC card at the time of event. 4. Timings: Follow the timings strictly for smooth execution of the event. Reach at least half an hour before the start of the event. 5. Faculty Member: At least one faculty member should accompany the Institution team. 6. Judgment: Decisions of the honorable jury will be final and cannot be challenged. 7. Decorum: a. The contents of the competitions must not contain any slang, abusive or inappropriate language. b. There must be no offensive remarks of any sort against any political party/personality, sect etc. c. Violation of any of the defined rules may either result in deduction of points or may even lead to disqualification. 8. Registration Fee: There is no registration fee for any competition. 9. Transport: No transport will be provided due to security and scale of the event. 10. Boarding and Lodging: Neither TA/DA nor boarding and lodging will be provided. 11. Prizes: Each competition/Category will have THREE individual prizes. 12. Prize Distribution Ceremony: All prizes will be awarded on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 1700 hrs in the prize distribution ceremony. Participation certificates will be given to all the participants. Event Trophy will be awarded to the institute/University winning maximum points. 13. IST will participate in the contests but they will not compete for the Prizes. 14. Date : Friday, March 27,09 Time : 0900 hrs -1230 hrs Medium: English and Urdu. From each participating institute, there should be a team of TWO speakers, One for English and One for Urdu. One will choose the serious topic and the second one should choose the humorous Topic. Evaluation will be based on content, language, pronunciation, presentation style and oratory. Time Duration of each speech should be between 4 - 6 minutes. The first bell will be rung after 4 minutes and the second one after 6 minutes. If the speaker fails to leave the rostrum after the second bell, his/her marks will be deducted. Paper reading and consultation of notes is not allowed. There will be Six Prizes; 3 for Urdu and 3 for English

A maximum of TWO students are allowed to participate from an institutionOne in Urdu and One in English 4. The writer will have to warp-up within 120 minutes. 5. The topic will be given on spot 6. The essay should have reasonable content of 1500-2000 words 7. Students found with any sort of written material or using mobile shall be disqualified from the competition 8. Paper/sheets will be provided by IST 9. There will be Three prizes for Each Category

Categories : a) Sofiana / Folk b) General Category 5. A maximum of TWO students are allowed to participate from an institutionone in each category. 6. Only solo performance is allowed 7. Musicians and sound system will be provided by the IST 8. There will be Three prizes for each category

Only digital photographs will be entertained in on-spot category. 7. On Spot contestants have to submit their photographs by 1900 hrs. 8. The photographs must clearly be student’s original work 9. Prepared Photographs must be submitted by 1100 hrs 10.The subject matter is left to the individual, however IST reserves the right to refuse entries which offend against its code of conduct. 11.There will be Three prizes for Each Category 6

8. Drama / Theatre Competition 1. Date : Friday, March 27,09 2. Time : 1630 hrs-2030 hrs 3. Categories a) "Individual Drama" ; ONE MAN Performance (Limited to one person on stage - it should be play and not the Talent show) b) "Group Drama” - (Two or more persons). 4. Duration : 10- 20 minutes 5. A stage of 30 feet X 15 feet, lights and Sound system will be provided by IST. 6. A tentative script of the drama must be attached with the registration form 7. Style, Theme and language can be any but should not violate the decorum. 8. Contestants may have up to five minutes to set up props/back drop on stage, and five minutes to remove all from the stage after their performance. 9. There will be Three prizes in each category and one special prize for the Best Actor/Actress.

Date : Saturday, March 28,09 Time : 1000 hrs-1300 hrs Each Institute will be represented by a team of two students. There will be 5 rounds in the event; each team will have to participate in all the rounds. o Bait Bazi  Verse starting from a given alphabet  Verse containing a given word  Traditional Bait Bazi o Kasauti o Visual Round o Damp Charade  (Each member has to perform on his/her given proverb and second member has to guess the proverb). o Extempore Speech ( 2 minutes ) There will be three prizes for the event.

Duration must be between 5-7 minutes. b. Can be Documentary / Short Film / Music Video but must be shot at IST, Institute of Space technology c. The participant should bring his/her own camera for on-spot video shoot on Friday, March 27, 09 at 1000 hrs for registration and video making. d. Submit the final version on Saturday, March 28,09 at 1200 hrs for screening and display 6. Prepared Video shoot a. Can be Documentary / Short Film / Music Video. b. Duration must be between 7-15 minutes. c. Language can be any Urdu / English. d. The participant should submit the video on Saturday, March 28,09 at 1200 hrs for screening and display 7. The documentaries will be played on multimedia, therefore, they must be formatted on CD, s. No VHS recording will be entertained. 8. The students must bring an alternate copy of the documentary in case the original does not play. 9. The documentary must clearly be student’s original work containing camera work, actualities and script. There should be minimum number of stock shots/visual referral material. 10.There will be Three Prizes for Each Category.
