Hair coloring do’s and dont’s Welcome back to my weekly column, your guide to all things beautiful. I must confess how traumatic it is for me to even enter the grocery store... with the aisles and ailes of all the concoctions priced well below the $5.00 range and still we have people right here in our own great city of Akron without a clue!!!! I can’t imagine trying to make an informed desicion on all of the boxed haircolor and the products that promise longer thicker shinier hair. I am here to tell you there is no product that can deliver these"magical" results and here’s why..

Icicle Drink of the week:

1/2 oz Vodka

1/2 oz Cointreau

1. Most companies in a mass market category use the least amount of any one "natural extract" to deliver any real long lasting results.

1 oz Black Haus Pour the Black Haus blackberry schnapps into a shot glass.

2. These products are sold solely on smell and packaging tricking you, the consumer, into believing you are getting salon quailty without paying the price. Don’t fall for these LIES!

Add vodka, followed by Cointreau, and serve.

3. If a chemical process that you purchase at the grocery store was so superior then why do people still run to salon screaming like Britney Spears running from the paparazzi? These products and chemials are designed to provide only a temporary fix. The haircolor in boxes has a very high concentration of ammonia that will allow for the fastest delivery and processing with the most amount of color humanly possible. Again misleading you into believing temporarily that this single product is somehow superior. I n closing nothing beats a great color and haircut done by a trained proffesional..i promise you will save lots of time and money in the log run happy holidays from me to you lets do our part to keep akron beautiful......

Tasty Jones’

Mind your P’s and Q’s

The saying “Mind your P's and Q's” comes from the time when alcoholic beverages were served and sold in Pints or Quarts.

Giant Jenga and more... With many great bars to choose from, how does one decide which one tonight? If you are into mellow atmospheres and great accoustic music then I have the place for you to visit. Tasty Jones’ has always been a favorite of mine. I started out just eating there during the day. I sampled almost everything on the menu, which has a unique variety of fairly priced gourmet appitizers. Soon after that I learned of the awesome nightlife that Jones’ has to offer. As you can see on the cover they have set a new standard for “drinking games”. Giant Jenga is my personal favorite. They also have an exquisite bochy ball pit. All of these enjoyments are free for patrons of this wonderfull establishment. Last but not least, the live music Tasty Jones’ offers is second to none. Again this is a very laid back enviroment and they intend to keep it that way. So you won’t find any head banging, ear bleeding, mosh pitting shows here. You will however get a great blend of VERY talented local musicians in Akron every Tuesday, Wednesdsay, and Thursday night.

Thus, to mind your P's and Q's meant to be careful how much you drank.

Artist of the Week

by Athena

The Busted Knuckle House Band

The Busted Knuckle Saloon is home to a group of guys who make up thier House Band. From watching the guys play a mix of music from southern rock to eighties, you get a sense that they all just enjoy playing together. Each member of the band has been contributing to the Akron music scene for roughly 30 years, and everything about the band from the members, to the music, to The Busted Knuckle Saloon keeps an air of rock and roll. The House Band has only been playing together for a year and a half which is definitely not apparent in the way the guys relate on stage, or by watching thier awesome performances.
