The Set-up

Unit Goals: Pupils will be exposed to different types of removable storage devices where they will be shown practically on how to open and save documents. Learning Objectives: • Able to recap and apply their previous learning/knowledge. • Able to identify 5 types of removable storage devices on collage picture. • Able to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using them. • Able to contribute ideas during discussion or brainstorming session. • Able to use any of removable storage devices on their own. Materials: DVDs, CDs, flash drives, external hard disk, floppy disk, MS Words, MS PowerPoint, Interactive Whiteboard (IWB).

The Closure (3 minutes)

The Hook: Teacher will show pupils a DVD which consists of seven different options from Walt Disney cartoons. Teacher will relate this with the removable storage devices that mostly used. Exploration: Teacher shows PowerPoint Presentation which consist of few oral questioning. Pupils will have opportunity to discuss with their peers. Indirectly, this will encourage them to brainstorm their ideas and comments. In the presentation their will learn advantages and disadvantages of using each storage devices. This will also develop their problem solving skill and critical thinking. Practise: Student will need to complete one exercise where they need to spell and write down the main functions of removable storage. Summary: Transfer and synthesize current knowledge to a new learning of technologies. In Year 2, they had learnt different types of computer hard wares which include the storage device. Teacher will relate this knowledge with today lesson which allow them to think and discuss the pros and cons of choosing a removable storage device. Application: Student will have an opportunity to improve their typing skill (by completing the exercise) and ICT skill (on how to use their own removable storage devices. The PowerPoint presentation will allow them to discuss answer and develop their communication skills, problem solving and decision making.

Another 5 minutes is reserve for morning greetings, reciting ‘Doa’ Assessment: Students will be assessed on how they are able to use and save their and any other delaying. documents with storage device collaboratively with their partners. They should be able to discuss the name and functions of different types of storage devices and apply their current knowledge.

The Preview: Teacher will discuss further on the usage of other storage devices for example on how to save documents to CD or DVD.
