Verse 1: In a branch of a tree, a little bird was caught So pretty in its red, white, blue, and yellow colors They put it in jail, in a golden cage they bought They provided it with much delicious foods

Verse 3: One day they took the bird out of the golden cage It struggled and succeeded to fly and escape The bird was so happy as it flew away The freedom it gained, it merrily celebrates

Verse 4: From that little bird, there’s a lesson to study A lesson so important for humanity Like the bird who fought for its liberty To struggle is necessary if we want to be free

Verse 5: So from then on, the bird flew away There in the meadow, forest and mountain Songs of freedom were sung as it entered And joined the flock of freedom fighters

Songs of freedom were sung as it entered And joined the flock of freedom fighters

Verse 6: (raise 2 frets higher again) So from then on, I went away There in the meadow, forest and mountain Songs of freedom were sung as I entered And joined the fighters of people’s army

Songs of freedom were sung as I entered And joined the fighters of people’s army
