1. The Weather set the mood because in this chapter it says that the weather is hot when the situation is at heat. There is this tension between tom and Gatsby making the situation very heated because Gatsby want daisy to say “I’ve never love you” to tom but daisy didn’t say it so there is this tension. Page 87 Q: “ The Next day was broiling, almost the last, certainly the warmest, of the summer”, Page 96 Q: “It’s so hot” she complained. The weather comply to the tension making it more frantic 2. her voice sounds like money. Her voice is rich and sounds very sophisticated. Anyone who hear her will thinks that she is from a person of a high status. 3.because he is “all run down” page 94. He is tired because he wants to get money so he can buy a house at west egg for his wife who is constantly nagging him to move to west egg. George thought that myrtle has another life without him, and that make him sick. Page 95 “He had discovered that myrtle had some sort of life apart from him in another world, and the shock had made him physically sick”. 4. that all man is just the same regardless the race or intelligence or authority. They all want the same. we can think of that because tom and George have the same faith. Both of their wives are cheating and they just want to have the same thing. Page 95 5. Because that car is not tom’s but gatsby’s. also, we think that it is also because tom felt pity for George and myrtle and don’t want to really make their realtionship broke because of him. He simply doesn’t care of gatsby’s car so he just say he will sell it and he is also in a rush so he just say whatever is in his mind. Page 95 “I’ll let you have that car”, said Tom.”I’ll send it over tomorrow afternoon”. 6. He says that he is only at oxford for 5 months so he should not be called “oxford man”. He says that it is an opportunity that was given to officers. It is important for tom to expose him because he want everybody especially daisy to know that he is a fraud, and make Gatsby for once lost and feel angry, to prove that he is not this self-control man everyone knows. Page 98-99. “Self-Control, Repeated Tom incredulously”. We could think that because he have this feeling or assumed that Gatsby is lying about his life, that he is a nobody. Tom thinks that Gatsby is a fraud. From chapter 6 when he says things like “how could he thinks that he is one of us” or something like that.
