Okay. And, this statement is being tape recorded, does that meet with both of your all’s approval?

Healey

Yes.

Butler

Okay. I’m taking this statement in reference to the events of August 20, 2008, that occurred during the PRP football practice. Uh, please describe the events of that practice from the beginning to the end that you can remember?

Healey

Well, pretty much all (inaudible)…, that day was the gassers.

Butler

Okay.

Healey

I mean dull day, you know, we just going separate drills, but I wasn’t there with Max.

Butler

Okay.

Healey

But, uh, when we was running coach had me stop, because I couldn’t breathe no more and. Then right when I turned around Max was on the ground. So, we just stood around and then after I got water and everything. That’s when it happened, and we took a knee. And, they took Max off the field on one of them little gator things. And, then he told us not even to uh, go down on pride, get off the field.

Okay. Uh, now I’ma ask you some specifics about that?

Healey

Um-hum.

Butler

The practice. Uh, how are water breaks given, individually or as a team?

Healey

Uh, one sections you know uh, defense and offense lines..

Butler

Like position?

Healey

Yeah.

Butler

Okay.

Healey

And, you don’t have, after a brea…, or the routine, then he allows us to get water.

Butler

Okay. Uh, on August 20th, 2008, how many water breaks uh, did you take?

Healey

Probably about 4 or 5.

Butler

Okay. After the last water break uh, what did practice consist of?

Healey

That was the end of that practice, I didn’t have to run no more.

Butler

Okay. And, that would’ve been after you did the gassing?

Healey

Yeah.

Butler

Okay. You, so you all had the water break before you did the gassings?

Gassers and then.

Butler

All right.

Healey

I had a water break after.

Butler

After the, after practice let out?

Healey

Yeah.

Butler

Okay. Uh, why was the team running the gassers?

Healey

Uh, because we wasn’t in shape, and that was conditioning.

Butler

Okay. Uh, how many gassers did your group run?

Healey

Awe, I know I did over 15.

Butler

Okay.

Healey

I know easy that, that’s when I stopped counting ‘em.

Butler

Now, the, the team was split into 2 groups light and heavy?

Healey

Yeah.

Butler

Okay. Which group were you in?

Healey

I was on heavy.

Butler

Okay. Uh, how many gassers uh, did you run before you took off any gear?

Healey

Uh, it was probably towards on the 12th gasser.

Okay. And, then after you took off your helmet, shoulder pads. How many more gassers do you think you ran?

Healey

About the 14th.

Butler

So, 2 more after that?

Healey

About the, yeah.

Butler

Okay. Uh, how long total do you think that the team was running gassers?

Healey

Um, probably about 35 minutes.

Butler

Okay.

Healey

Not even probably that or less.

Butler

Okay. Uh, did you or any of your teammates uh, ask for water breaks while they were running gassers?

Healey

Um-hum.

Butler

Did you hear anybody else asking for it?

Healey

No.

Butler

Okay. Did you hear any coaches deny anybody any water?

Healey

Stinson, but I mean I wasn’t really paying attention.

Butler

Okay, you just…

Healey

He just said no water.

But, you don’t know who he said it to or any?

Healey

Uh.

Butler

At w…, at what point did he say that?

Healey

Uh, it was in end of gassers, when we was taking a knee.

Butler

Okay. Did you or any of your teammates become ill when you were running gassers?

Healey

No.

Butler

Other than Max?

Healey

Well, there was this one black dude, but he had to go to the hospital. He couldn’t breathe and.

Butler

Would you know.

Healey

Has asthma.

Butler

Is his name Antonio Calloway?

Healey

Yeah.

Butler

Okay. When did he become sick?

Healey

Uh, probably right at the end of gassers, when they was walking Max.

Butler

Okay. Do you recall anybody else gettin’ sick?

Healey

No.

Butler

Uh, during any of the practices this year uh, have you personally seen or heard of any of

Um-um.

Butler

Okay. Has anybody influenced you in anyway uh, to withhold information. Or, change any of the facts of what happened that day?

Healey

No.

Yes.

Healey

Um-um.

Freshman head coach.

It’s Deacon.

Yeah.

So, you’re, you’re running gassers and you start having trouble breathing?

Yeah, because I have asthma.

And, then Coach Deacon told me to stop running.

Butler

How far into that were?

Healey

I was…

16, you said 2 after?

Healey

It was, I, yeah.

Okay.

Healey

I was up there, I was towards the end of the gasser so.

Butler

Okay. Now, did you go over to the bleachers and get treated?

Healey

Yeah. Uh, I told that coach I couldn’t run no more, and he said all right. Said uh, told talk to the other coach and he gave me an inhaler.

Butler

Do you know which coach that was?

Healey

Uh, what’s Coach carries the medical, bag?

Healey, Steven

Uh, that’s Steve Deacon.

Butler

Steve Deacon, yeah. And, the freshman coach is Bobby?

Healey, Steven

Bobby.

Healey

Yeah.
