Cyclonic Separation Process 1.

Washdown water drains to effluent pit.

2.

When the effluent in the pit rises to a set level a float switch starts the air diaphragm pump.

3.

Oil is removed with entrained water from the surface via the oil skimmer and processed through the cyclonic separator. Separated, this time with a small amount of water, oil is collected in a specially designed storage tank. On entering the tank oil floats to the top and water drains back to the effluent pit. This tank is emptied when full of oil or on a schedule.

4.

5.

Treated water is discharged to waste. Optional reprocessing of water is available (multiple passes through separator). With this option processed water is returned to the collection pit for recycling through the cyclonic separator. At the end of a preset time the water is diverted to waste by either automatic or manual controls. As water is discharged the effluent level in the pit falls until the float switch is activated and the pump is turned off.

Level Switch Pneumatic or electric operation. Turns pump on when effluent in pit reaches high level and off when it reaches low level. Floating Weir Skimmer Removes surface oil when system is in operation. The use of the skimmer eliminates the possibility of the pit flooding and causing an oil spill. Strainer Prevents debris from fouling pump and cyclonic separator. The 0.5mm mesh removes particles that could block the oil outlet of separator. Diaphragm Pump Air operated double diaphragm type Suitable for hazardous areas Self priming Cyclonic Separator High G force separation High separation efficiency Recycle capability further increases separation efficiency Oil Collection Tank Collects separated oil Allows water collected with the oil to automatically drain back to pit Recycle Option Manual or automatic Allows large build up of oil to be removed before water effluent is discharged to waste Allows reprocessing of effluent and increased oil separation efficiency
