o Voodoo is a mixture of many types of beliefs, including Catholicism and various African religions. o Just as the Christian religion offers several denominations, there are many different groups of voodoo practitioners. o While each group follows different traditions, the basis of the religion is that all of nature is controlled by spiritual forces. Indeed, there are hundreds of spirits, found in the Vodun religion as well as one supreme god.

o Voodoo originates from the African word for spirit, which is "vodun." Although often portrayed as an evil form of magic, voodoo is actually a type of religion that is practiced by over 60 million people, mainly in Haiti and some African and South American countries.

o There are many forms of voodoo for the voodoo practitioners, but today I only stress 3 of them. o 3 forms of voodoo: 1. Voodoo doll 2. Voodoo powder 3. Voodoo dancing

o The Voodoo Doll represents the spirit of a specific person. o We refer to the Voodoo Doll the same as if we are talking direct to the person the Voodoo Doll represents. o We can give directions to the Voodoo Doll to change an attitude, change their ways, etc. o Voodoo Dolls are mostly used for positives, but can also be used for acts of revenge. o If we wish to attract the love of another, we can stick a pin the heart of the Voodoo Doll. o We can also request the voodoo doll to call upon powerful forces known as Loa.

Voodoo Dancing is intimately linked with voodoo worship and indeed takes so promenade a place in it that voodoo might almost be defined as a dance religion.

The drums beating out dance to some extent become the very symbols of voodoo. The drummer is the life and soul of every ceremony. Drummers play their music all through the night with a fierce passion which is occasionally frenzied.

The drum beats govern the steps and movements of the dancers. They also invoke numerous families of Voodoo gods since dancing is a ritualistic act. Music and dancing please the gods because they believe that the gods too are dancers. The dancers revolve around the poteau-mitan (symbolizes the center of Vodun from the sky to hell), each one making up their own steps. Songs are used as accompaniments to dancers.

There are many ways to cure voodoo and they are: 1. To stop a voodoo spell being placed upon you, acquire some bristles from a pig cooked at a Voodoo ritual, tie the bristles into a bundle and carry them on you at all times. 2. Seek the priest or priestess, called the houngan or mambo respectively,who is an intermediary to summon the loa and helps the loa depart when his or her business is finished. 3. Because voodoo relies on the belief so the application and the outcome may be good for one person and could be bad for another and it is always have to be remind that to implement such voodoo would be easy but to cure or remove it is not as easy as it may seems as negative energies are very difficult to control . As for conclusion, it would be wise to relate back the voodoo beliefs with the principles of own religion to guide the practice.
