Have you ever heard of the Markhor? Markhors are the official animal of Pakistan. Markhors are 65 to 115 centimeters tall and they weigh 40 kilograms up to 110 kilograms. Markhors has horns that looks like corkscrew and the length of horns go up to 160 centimeters for a male Markhor and 25 centimeters for a female Markhor. By now you would be wondering how can you compare a male and a female Markhor. The female Markhors have a tanned color, a white underbelly, and have a pattern of black and white on their legs. The male Markhors are less tanned, as well as a black face and a large amount of long shaggy white fur on their neck and chest which can grow to knee-length. But they have the same white underbelly, and patterned legs.

Where Markhors can be found Markhors are usually found at the altitude at 500 to 3,500 meters where there are grass and various vegetables. They often stand on their hind legs to reach the leave on the trees. MarkhorS are active in the early morning and late afternoon.

Mating Season During mating season, males fight each other for the attention of females. These fights involve lunging until the two males' horns are locked together, and then twisting and pushing until one male falls. Markhor sound much like the domestic goat

Endangered The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources has classified the Markhor as an endangered species, meaning it is in danger of facing extinction in the near future if conservation efforts are not

maintained. Numbers between 2,000 and 4,000 exist in the wild.
