SURVEY RESULTS AFTER TSUNAMI HIT SOUTH JAVA COAST AT 17 JULI 2006

Tsunami wave track when hit Pangandaran, Cilacap & Kebumen based on survey results

What to be conducted/Surveyed in PANGANDARAN

• Fisherman community • Visited collapsed Auction Fishes Station (TPI) Pangandaran • Joint with ITST • Interviewed with Chief of Fisherman Group • Visited collapsed Fishes Auction Station (TPI) Cikidang • Visited BBGU (Institute for Marine Aquaculture) & Hatchery • Visited collapsed House/Villas • Visited some Recovering activities

Yellow arrow: We saw collapsed buildings in west & east part, and some housing/building in between were safe (Sources: Tsunami Survey Team AMFR, July 2006)

Join with ITST International Tsunami Survey Team (ITST) consist from Ministry of Marine Affairs & Fish. RI, Port & Airport Research Institute, and also Japan Society of Civil Engineering.

The wave came through to TPI Building, leave watermark at floor, then destroy the wall behind the TPI

BBGU & Hatchery 07º 41.295’ S, 108º 40.53’ E

Inside Lab. was collapsed Distance: 60 meter from the beach

Total lost of BBGU: Rp. 2.076.000.000,Hatchery collapsed by wave approx. 4-6 meters height

The watermark showed that the inundation could reach inldand 1.62 km from the beach (Survey results of Team AMFR, 2006)
