OUR LONDON CORRESPONDENCE LU>'U(liN» Friday iNight.

Rumania n Debts Representatives of the Manchester, Bradford , and London Chambers of Commerce met Mr. Euntiman to-day to discuss with him the question of Rumania n commercial debts to this country. The debts owing amount to £2,000,000 . £700,000 of which is owing to Lancashire cotton firms, £400,000 to Bradford woollen merchants, £280,000 to London creditors, and the balance to creditors in other parts of Yorkshire and in Edinburgh. Private negotiations uhich have been conducted with Rumania by the British creditors have entirely failed to produce a settlement, wh ich is the reasojj why the British Government have nqj v taken the matter up. Mr. Runcinmn is to meet Mr. Strunqa , of the Rumania n Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in London next week, and he wished to inform himself before meeting.Mr . Strunga of the views of the various commercial in terests involved in Rumania 's indebtedness. W hat the creditors appear to have proposed to Mr. Runciman to-day is an exchange agreement after the. German model rather than an exchange cleaving system, which is understood to have worked far from well between Rumania and some of her other creditors. Tinder the proposal paymen ts due to Rumanian exporters would be used to liquidate past Rumanian debts. It is mor& than likely that the British Government will discourage further trade with Rumania until a settlement has been Teacher!
