Short Story Group Project Description: •
Students will be divided into groups of five
•
The group will be assigned a short story from the established list o Lady or the Tiger o Gift of the Magi o The Scarlet Ibis o Rules of the Game
•
Students in the group will be assigned a literary device: o character o plot o setting and theme o conflict o point of view
•
The students will read the story and analyze it according to their literary device. Students will then be responsible for a written analysis of the story.
•
As a group the students will create a poster that represents all the elements of their short story and present their findings to the class.
•
The entire class will complete a reflection sheet after group presentations
Purpose: Students will have the experience of working as a group to analyze a piece of literature. Students will also have an opportunity to present their findings to the class.
Grading: Students will be graded on their individual role for the assignment and then their group presentation.
Schedule:
Day 1 – Read Story Analyze for individual role Discuss as group and plan poster Day 2 Create poster Present finding
